• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

all hell broke loose today during a short ryde.
i checked fuses and re-seated relays but no help.
there were 4 fault codes
c003-
p2545
c003-
u0122

another visit to the dealer ...

I just took a look at the shop manual and it seems they could all be related to one issue, or a combination of issues with the same module. See below, maybe this will help:

P2545:

Possible Causes: VSS Light ON, VSS CAN message missing, VSS plausibility error., VCM internal counter error, VSS message counter error, VCM internal error, Damaged circuit wires. Check for VCM fault.

Service Action: Check VCM fault, measure voltage between connectors, etc…

U0122:

Possible Causes: unit: DPS - VCM Communication Fault - Damaged circuit wires, damaged VCM or damaged DPS/VCM pins.

Service Action: Disconnect MP12 from DLC connector … measure resistance … etc… (dealer should have manual and could follows these tests for you to get to the root of the problem.)

C003-:
There are many codes in the shop manual similar to C003x, such: C0031, C0032, C0034, C0035, C0037, C0038, C003A and C003B. All of these relate to the VCM module and Wheel Speed Sensors and indicate a possible fault/damaged circuit wires or damaged tooth wheel or too big a gap between the sensors and the tooth plate.

Actions: Check connections on sensors, check all gaps on all three sensors (1.3 - 1.9mm), check sensor for damage. The shop manual outlines a number of electrical tests for these sensors, the dealer should have access and be able to help further.

At least now you have something to look for and a couple locations. If you can't find anything in this area, bring this information to the dealer, and along with checking BUDS they should be able to help you further.

hope that helps.
Cheers,
Dean

Just out of curiosity, have you checked your brake lights to make sure they are working properly? As strange as it sounds, I had an issue similar to this when my license plate light shorted out and took the fuse with it. :dontknow:

I hope you are able to get it resolved quickly.

Looks like the VCM Module could be the culprit

That would be my thought also, but Spyderwolf has some good suggestions for checking things like fuses and blown brake lights for example.

aka1004: Please keep us updated on this and particular what the Dealer says and the solution they find.

Thanks.

i checked the brake light and fuse but no problem there.
spyder will be going to dealer on monday.

on the side note, brp finally approved the rear fender/swing arm and spindle out of engine for front sprocket repair. dealer can't do the spindle till end of summer but they will order the parts for rear fender on monday.

:2thumbs:

Does that mean you are going to hang in there a while longer?

Codes

I had the same codes last week on a trip to Helen GA, Stopped in Cartersville at a dealer. He hooked it up to buds and said it was the right wheel sensor. It was a lose connection on the right front wheel sensor, check the plugs, just trace them form your wheel, you can get to the front one with out removing the tupperware, the rear one you will have to pull your rear panel. He just unplug it and replugged. Haven't had it happen again. He said the pins lose connection sometimes. Any way that was my problem with the same codes, good luck. 1SG :ohyea:

This is great information, thanks for sharing this Roy!!! One thing to look for when these codes pop up!!

aka1004: Good luck at the Dealer Monday, hope to hear the results next week, when you get a chance to post.

DPS code

I had my 12k service today, along with the infamous software update. I made it about five miles towards home and it went into limp mode and showed both VSS and DPS faults. Took it back to the shop. They redid the update. I made it about 8 miles before the same thing happened again. After looking at the codes again the mechanic said they now have to put in a new DPS. So it is staying at the dealer and I am in Starbucks waiting for my wife to come pick me up. We live 90 miles from the dealer...oh well. First major problem in two years of Spydering
