There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Vista-Cruise throttle lock

I just installed one of these for those 'shake the paw' episodes (thank you Bob!)

Vista Cruise Cruise Control - Yamaha Models single or Dual Cable with 78 inch Bars (VC-07-4044)

They have redesigned it with a little tab that attaches to the cable retaining bar in the bottom of the grip....no more drilling into the housing, unless you want to. Just a small amount of filing or dremeling, I think it may be a little thicker also as I had to grind a relief for the ridge on the throttle tube. Pretty easy install and for $24..... you can't go wrong.

Never got to test it cause the skies opened unexpectedly....:dontknow:....maybe tomorrow.

I've been tring to find this VC cruise control that you said fit your RS but can't find this exact model,I ordered one that looked the same and said it fit 7/8 handlebars-dual cable, but the foot that goes around the throttle cable did not reach the cables,it hits the side of the throttle case. Where did you find this model? and do you like it? I can't find one for my RS. Thanks

I just clicked on the link in my post and it came up, Cruiser Customizing has them in stock,

The plastic tab on the bottom needs grinding flat and the throttle tube is a touch long....either shorten the tube 1/8" or so or grind a relief for it in the Vista Cruise unit where it grabs the bar.

The little bracket fit nicely between the dual cables on the unit I got, I tweaked the tabs a little so it would fit tighter on the throttle housing, didn't care for the play they built into it.

I like it a lot, I leave the adjusting tool in my tank bag and had to tighten the grip on it once....no other issues.

Oh, almost forgot....they use the same picture for all the units, single cable, dual cable, Yamaha & Kawasaki....the one I got looked a little different from the pic actually.

Good luck!

Thanks for posting this. I've been wondering if there was a version of this that would fit w/o any cutting or drilling and it looks like you found. I'm ordering one right away.

does anyone know how to remove the throttle grip to install the throttle lock? i cant see any other way to install the lock unless i can physically move the throttle grip out at least 1/8 inch or more. i see a ridge if i try to peel back the lip next to the control housing but everything i read is telling me that the only way to remove it is to basically cut it off and throw it out and get a new one to replace it (i.e.. the shop manual).

also, i pulled off the end cap and the damn rubber grommet came off the bolt and rolled WAYYYY up into the handlebar tube and i cant figure out for the life of me how to get it out. anyone ever have this happen before? and if so, any ideas on how i might be able to retrieve it?

thanks!

You rang? :yikes:

atatDude, I read through your referenced post before i put up my question before, but i wasnt sure exactly how the throttle grip was removed. I am not replacing the grip with a new one or adding a grip puppy at this point. I re-read the thread in full but i am still missing it if there was a mention to removal techniques. any insight is appreciated!

Thanks!

If you have an air compressor, blow air under the grip to dislodge it.

Ok, this is what i was hoping for. I dont even need to remove it completely, but i do want to slide it off an inch or so to expose the ridge on the throttle tube so i can assess fitment and grind the ridge (or make a relief in the throttle lock plastic) as needed.

Thanks for the help!

On a side note, i added the riser block from can-am and (aside from some tricky screws on the handlebar cover plastic) it was actually not that bad. This should be fairly simple as long as i get access by sliding off the grip and i suspect that the grip removal/install will be the hardest part.

Air cimpressor works great to seperate the grip. It will come right off with no damage. Use grip glue when you put it back on.
