Vista "Cruise Control" Throttle Lock

I'm going to order either a Vista Cruise Control or a Throttle Mate -- like the lower cost for both.

I understand from reading this form that the stock handlebar is 7/8" - correct? Can either throttle lock be installed with the stock grips?

Could someone who has the Vista respond and tell me how you like it? and
Could someone who has the Throttle Mate respond and tell me how much you like it?

Thanks!

Just showed my husband the Throttle Mate and the Vista and he's not crazy about either one of them!

How does the Throttle Meister work?

I had the Throttlemeister and I now have the Vista Cruise. Both can be used with the stock Spyder grips, I still have the stock grips on my Spyder. I sold the Throttlemeister as I had a harder time using it the way I wanted a throttle lock to work. You twist the Throttlemeister on and off and while doing that, the throttle can also move. With the Vista Cruise, one flip of the thumb sets it and an upward flick of the thumb releases it, very quick and easy. Both seemed to hold the Spyder's speed about the same. Neither one is perfect for totally locking down the throttle as road vibrations at higher speeds can cause the throttle to creep back. I am happy with the Vista Cruise and it works excellent under 60 - 65 MPH. Plus the price is right.

Scotty & Dudley's BB vibration cure might help stabilize the cruise controls.

Thanks for your help! Did you have to remove the grip to install the Vista?

Yep but it was no problem. dltang informed me that she squirted some windex up under the grip to help it slide off and voila, off it came. Just that little bit of moisture was enough to make it slide easily on and off the throttle sleeve.

I think each offers something a little different...I have the throttlemeister and it works well for me...I engage it when accelerating and leave the throttle where it stays...it if needs to drop off a bit, I take the throttle down a little...

You can leave it on all the time...keep the throttle a little 'sticky'...still have total control...

It's nice to see a few options out there....something for everyone..

I agree, I love my throttlemeister, Brian didn't care for it. I mainly use it on highways, I too roll it on when I accelerate and roll it off as I get off on an exit ramp. I will use it and keep it "on" when we are on long stretches of two lane driving as well. I don't turn it off in that case, I just roll the throttle as needed to slow down or speed up. I truly wouldn't want to make this trip out west with out my throttlemesiter unless I had actual cruise control.

Yeah...and that MC cruise is awesome but is not budgeted for now! Maybe some day...ahhh..

I have the Vista Cruise and it works great. I have not even had to adjust it since I installed it.

ataDude's instructions work well. The only thing I did differently was instead of removing the ridge on the throttle sleeve, I beveled the outside edge with a Dremmel on the Vista Cruise ring so it would miss the ridge on the throttle sleeve.

Good luck!
