Video Camera or Accessory Bracket You Can Build

I want wanted to mount my contour video camera as solid as possible to stop the vibration I was getting when I had it on a ram mount. I bought a piece of 2" x 1/16" aluminum flat bar at Ace Hardware and bent it as shown in the picture. I made a hardwood wedge that levels the mount base, epoxied it to the bracket and painted the assembly. I added sticky back foam camper tape to the inside to prevent marring the dash and the camera mount after it was dry.

The bracket slips over the dash lip and slides up under and is concealed by the pull out safety reminder. The clamp has a spring action to it that locks it down to the dash so it is very stable and unless some one knows the secrete (pull out the safety placard as you lift and pull the bracket at the leading edge) they would think it is mechanically attached. Just thought I would share this since it removes quickly and leaves no screw or bolt holes.

Also added a shot of my cheapo utility/garbage bag. I was always looking for a place to put things when moving such as gargage, my gloves etc. I made a little bracket that slides under the lip of the side panel, and added two suction cups to the bottom corners of the bag. I also glued a velcro strip up the center that I use to keep tension on the lower part of the bag as a back up. The male side slides under the side panel and is locked on place by friction. Again, no holes required to secure the bag.

I like that idea a lot if it is vibration free.

As good as ram mounts are there is no solid place on the dash area other than the handle bars that is solid enough to mount them.

Where did you get the sun shield for the Garmin?

I can't remember but I will look at my favorites at home to see if I can find the sunshade supplier.

The mount is rock solid and only moves if the whole bike moves but because it is centered even a pot hole is barely noticible when played back.

I used the gopro helmet mount stickies to the top of the dash in the same position. I then got the go pro camera mount and broke a prong off the mounting area so it would mesh with the mount point. Picked up a small, quarter inch 20 thread screw. Screwed that into the camera mount with some lock tite. Now I have a go pro camera mount that I can mount my contour to using its built in tripod mount.
