• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Vibration

While driving my wife's RT Limited to Elk Grove Power Sports yesterday I noticed a very distinct vibration (and sound) when the tach passes through 5500 RPM. It is much more pronounced if you back off of the throttle at that point, but very noticable anytime it passes that RPM range. I had the mechanics check it out. They said it is normall for all spyders. It comes from the drive belt. They did adjust it tighter and it helped some but still very noticable. I haven't read any other reports of this problem on the board.

Anyone else notice this?

Have the dealer check for that bolt that rubs on the frame, if they haven't already. Some of the early RT's had this problem around that RPM range if I remember correctly. The belt vibration doesn't make a whole lot of sound, but the grinding bolt might, and don't let them give you that crap "all spyders do it". Some of the RT owners have more info on this. The RT tensioners are on the way, dropped off the brackets for powdercoating today, the tensioners and pulleys should be here in a week. I will be making 10 the first batch to get some feedback. I did go by the dealer today and clamped the bracket and tensioner in place to take some pic's, sure is tight in there. I have one made already for testing purposes and removed my parking brake assembly on my GS and installed it in the same place as the RT will mount.

sounds like what I had I felt like I was griding my teeth as the vibration went thur the engine, they replaced the clutch no good, engine mounts, no good, then BRP bit the bullet and replace the compleate engine unit.
Since then No vibration from the bike just a tiny bit from the belt which I will fix with a belt pulley part sold on this site, but could live with it how it is. AND also stand up to them, and don't let tell you it's ok,

Other than being very annoying, is there any danger to Spyder or rider in just ignoring the vibration? My wife bought the extended warranty and I now have it on record with CanAm that I complained about the vibration. I will be interested in capt jim's tensioner win it is available for the RT, but right now money is pretty tight.
