• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Vented Windshield

I just installed the vented windshield part # 219400360 and the bag of bits included a couple of pal nuts (the kind you use with sheet metal). I can't see where they might go and the instructions didn't mention them.

Anyone have any inside knowledge on if they are used somewhere other than my keychain?

Actually it will be nice having a summer windshield and a winter windshield. The vented is about 2" shorter and 2" narrower than the stock 2012 RT-S windshield.

I wrote on this a couple of weeks ago. Couple o' things: You bought the same wind screen I did. The width is actually three inches narrower than stock and two inches shorter. It's a "sport touring" cut. I find that it helps both cut down drag and buffeting, but it's a little more visceral in the wind.

If you return to the Can Am site, they also sell a vented wind screen that is nearer the size of the original stock RT screen.

I saw those extra nuts too. I didn't use them either. The instructions seem to point at installing them on the wind screen where existing mounting hardware is. I shrugged and set the extra hardware aside and mounted the screen in the existing holes with the existing hardware. Weird, yes.

Paul,

After reading your post I made the decision to get the smaller vented windshield for summer use here in Missouri.

I went for a short ride today with the vented windshield and like it for summer riding. You can position the vent to get plenty of air flow... hmm I didn't try it in the up position.

I give the 23" vented windshield :2thumbs: . If you mostly ride 2-up though you may want to go with the 25" so your passenger doesn't get blown away.

Nothing wrong with having 2 windscreens. Use the sport in the summer and the original in the winter. Also have the option when going on a longer wet trip with 2 up to go larger for the passenger. Only takes about 10 minutes to swap out.

Here's an idea... :D
Swap out that non-chromed windshield bracket for the shiny acessory one.
Bolt it to a safe spot where nothing will get knocked against it.
Get the second windshield of your choice and swap as needed,; storing the spare one on the old bracket.
