• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

VCM vs. Electronic Box

I have a 2011 Spyder RT A & C. Been towed now 5 times to different dealerships with various problems. The last one had the bike for 2 weeks before they even looked at it. Ran diagnostics on it and said the problem might be with the VCM. Operative word here is might. Cost me $300 (3 hours Labor) just to be told this. Nothing else was done to the bike. The tech reset the angle sensor.
Went on line to check out the cost of a VCM. $649.99 for part number 278001999. Not sure this is the correct part number for a 2011. Called GearHead.com and they told me the correct part for my bike was an "electric box" for $529.99 (part number 420666567).

Is an electric box and a VCM the same thing?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry..!!

The ECM ( engine control module) and the VCM (vehicle control module) are seperate units what I have found is...
VSS hydraulic unit 219800097...$1,133.99
ECM 420666563 US, 420666547 CA, $529.99
don't know what issues you are having. These are items that don't fail often. Perhaps a second opinion...

VCM is what we affectionately call the Nanny. Control the ABS Brakes, Vehicle Stability and Traction Control. The picture below is of a 2013 model and easier to get at then your 2011 but basically the same unit. There have not been many failures, but a couple were because water got in the electrical connector a caused corrosion. Did the tech inspect the connector?

Do yourself a big favor and pull up the codes yourself and let us Spyderlovers know what they are and MAYBE someone here can save you a lot of MONEY..................JMHO.......Mike

module masters

COO6C code. According to tech.

wonder if ModuleMasters will be able to do anything with these? I found out the fixed BMW Abs modules after I had mine eliminated cause it was too expensive to replace. if it was definitively diagnosed might be worth inquiring with them. but for a dealer to troubleshoot with 'known good units' at your expense strikes me as incompetent.
