Vandalized!

Thank you!

Thank you all for your responses to my post! The bike was parked in a public place at the time it was vandalized at dusk. I have talked to the owner of the business and they did have security cameras and are reviewing the videos. I previously owned a 2008 and a 2010 Spyder and never had any problems with vandals. Wow, thank you very much for the seat offer, very thoughtful of you! I purchased a new take off seat today on Ebay, it's the dark chocolate Limited seat, very happy to find one so quickly. The drivers side saddlebag was keyed the worst, very deep marks. The rear trunk cover and front hood, not as bad as the saddlebag. I will definitely request replacement panels with the insurance company. I've never had any past claims so hoping that will help me out with the repairs. Happy to know so many wonderful people on this Spyder forum, many thanks!

Very sorry to hear this. People can be very cruel.

I really hope the security camera works out. That is exactly what they are there for.

most people are pretty good but sometimes you find one jealous one that just have to be mean, if you can identify them i would put charges on them,

This is exactly why I carry actual cash value comprehensive coverage on all my vehicles. I have no deductible if anything that is considered comprehensive happens including a broken windshield on a car. Most insurance companies have it and don't tell you about it and it's not that expensive and will pay for it self.

vandalism never made sense to me it raises insurance rates and the person that does the damage has to pay higher rates like everyone else so in affect paying for their own stupidity

Maybe one of the alarms that have been discussed would have minimized the damage. It seems unreasonable to have to go this far but...:banghead:

Sensless destruction of another's property with no pecuniary gain in mind (other than I guess the perpetrator's self satisfaction which isn't pecuniary) is a pet peeve of mine. The penalty should be cutting their hands off. (and yes I'm serious) See how many times others do it if that type of punishment were to be used.

:agree::agree:
Law amendment is what we need so punishment will fit the crimes.

Has anyone on the forums had their Spyder vandalized? I had my 2013 Limited seat sliced and paint keyed. Curious how the insurance company handles the damage, I have a $500 deductible.

Without reading through this thread... my experience dealing directly w insurance companies is first making sure where you stand...let them know UP FRONT that you want it good as new. In our state (Virginia) if a vehicle is vandalized the owner has total claim in how it should be fixed....so don't settle! If you think it should have panels replaced then stick to it and tell them....if they happen to have it "fixed" somehow....if you aren't 100% satisfied then deny it! Don't settle, you pay top premiums you should should get top replacement/repairs! Period.

Don't let them take advantage of the situation to save themselves a few bucks, get what you deserve!

I've had claims before that they estimated at $10,000 to save them money ending up costing them $22,000 to do right....and never had my premiums go up!

Don't let them take advantage of you.

I'll stop now.... lol

The thought that someone would do that just makes me ill. People just don't have respect for anything anymore. My husband worked his way through college and bought a new car when he was almost done (had his after school full-time job at the time). The last night he had it at the dorms it was parked out front with the paper plates. Some jackass thought they had to key it on the driver's side door. It was a metallic paint and even though we got it fixed we still saw it until we got rid of that car.

He just added an alarm on my bike and will be adding the same one onto his in the very near future.

I hope you find the creep that did this to your bike and make them pay. Public hangings would probably stop some of this crap.

Cutting something off...but not his hands.

Vandals

I just picked up my 2013 RT Limited about an hour ago. My drivers side bag was scratched up this past Sunday. I have a custom paint job so I took it back to Brian Boan at Devil's Candy Custom in Daytona, and he buffed it out wonderful. I am so pleased. He doesn't think it was keyed, just some stupid asswipe who drug either a large studded purse or jangly keys across it. Now I'm researching alarms for it. It just makes no sense. spydee paint.jpg

That's a relief!
Here's something to keep in mind:
When folks are getting close to your bike, and trying to put on their helmets; make sure that they're not swinging them around in such a manner, that they catch the corner of your saddlebags. :yikes:
(I've has some; get too close for comfort...)

Sorry about what happen to you, I hope they have good video on the .....that did that, in few places not in the USA, if they catch the perpetrator he can be shot or he would lose his hands..

sorry to hear.. I loath people of that caliber ...maybe the security cameras will help.. the worst I ever had was someone poured a beer all over the seat of my BMW at a bar...

Were you parked in an area with security cameras? Worth it to check their tapes.
As for the vandal, there is another part of their anatomy I'd be removing.

john

:agree: Check around to see if there are cameras nearby that may have caught the jerk.

Ouch

I never understood vandalism. It makes no sense what does it gain the person who does it? I agree with a punishment that fits the crime plus reimbursement.
I hope things work out with your insurance co to your satisfaction.

Just a heads up on bike insurance.

I'm sorry this happened to you and hope it turns out that your bike is like new again.

Just a heads up for everyone. From my experience with both Geico and Progressive and most likely other insurances is that they don't cover upgrades or after market items only stock items that are on the bike at purchase. If you have installed items like additional lighting, seats, electronics, etc. these are not covered unless added to your policy and of course you pay additional premiums. You can easily put a few grand in extras on your bike and not think anything of it. This happened to me many years ago. The adjuster let it slide that time because I'd been with them for so long. Now I keep track of everything I do to my bikes and pay for the extra coverage. Please don't take my word for this, check with your insurance co.

I couldn't agree more, Taxachusetts for sure! I have a sister that moved to North Carolina 5 years ago, said it was the best decision she ever made.

The punishment should fit the crime! Unfortunately, they'll do it again to someone else, it's just wrong!

I thought that might be the case with my $500 deductible. Not sure how they'll handle the keying, touchup paint and buff or repaint. The seat replacement and install will just about be the price of the deductible.

What made this so much worse is that I've only had the bike for a month today! Hopefully Karma will kick in for this culprit!

skicranmore best to get replacement panels i am not far from you if you need help i have never had a problem like that almost sounds like some one had a problem with you for them to stay there cut the seat
and key the paint look close to the people around you be nice to catch them
