• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Valet keys

I want to make some valet keys (no chip) for my new 2015 RT-SS. On my 2012 the blank key # was iLco X270 TMC1.

Does anyone know what the key number that I need to order for the 2015?

The X270 works fine on my 2014. If you want the key to allow you to open the frunk or unlock the seat you do have to bevel the key to get the necessary clearance to push it all the way down into the ignition switch. I used a chipped key as the pattern. The hardest job was finding a local hardware store that had a blank.

Keys...

Most hardware stores and small shops will not carry these types of blanks. If you go to a locksmith type, Kwick Keys etc, they will have what you want especially if you are not needing the chip...

"If you want the key to allow you to open the frunk or unlock the seat you do have to bevel the key"

Can you explain what you mean by "bevel the key"? Does this mean to file the tip at a slight angle or to grind away the key by the grip to make it longer?

I was told that the X270 wouldn't work on the 2014 and 15. I gave away 20 of them at Spyderfest. I'm glad I still have a couple left.

Lucky you! Here's what mine looks like after a stint on the bench grinder.

There's an old hardware store in Matthews, NC, Renfrow Hardware, whose motto should be, "If we don't have it, you don't need it." One call and owner set aside the blank. Another store that didn't have a blank told me the X270 fits some not so popular foreign car and that's why they didn't have. Big box home improvement stores didn't have either.

So where do you order that style of key and what is the part/key number?

Available from most online key retailers. Just do a google search for the key blank number. As for the key blank part number. See below.
