We arrived at the state park just after sundown. My wife spotted the first deer (I believe the Director refers to them as woods rats). The park was full so we went back down the mountain and got a room in Oxford for the night.
It was Saturday night and we headed out to supper. We got to an Outback and were told it was a two hour wait. I sent my wife in to get us a drink from the bar while I stayed outside and kept and eye on most of the gear as we had left the trailer at the hotel. It turns out that my wife was waiting at the bar next to a local who was on the phone with his cousin. His cousin was telling him about this weird three wheel thing the he had just seen headed towards Outback. Long story short has asks her if that is what she is riding. Within fifteen minutes we had stools at the bar and our meal was ordered. Poor us, we had to talk about the Spyder in return.
There is a picture the next morning with the mountains in the background. We both like a nearby park called Little River Canyon. Little River Canyon is the "Grand Canyon of the East". Once again it is a matter of scale. My wife is a very talented artist and I expected that large portions of the day would be spent reading while she sketched for future paintings. Imagine my delight when she wanted to spend most of the day ryding those curvy roads in the mountains. As we pulled into one overlook I noticed a Springer Spaniel racing through the woods. We got off and here comes a Golden Retriever. He was very friendly and greeted everyone that pulled in but, always returned to us. When we left he followed us for quite a while. I finally broke the park speed limit and left him behind. He was obviously well fed and cared for. He had a collar and tags from a local vet. I felt bad about leaving him behind but was afraid he might get hit on the road. I am sure he was out for a day in the park with his best buddy, just like us. I am out of picture space. See you in part 3.
