• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

No changes since I last posted on page 17. Still the ARtraveler. Live in AR and love to travel.

From 2010 - 2019 I lived in AK and was AKspyderman.

Lot's of new members who have not posted here. We will be looking for your input. :firstplace:

My Grandfather and my Father both nicknames were Duke (last name Duquette, pronounced Duke-ette)... Growing up I was my Father's sidekick so I was given the "Little Duke" nickname.... Most of my old friends and Family still call me Duke... Ever since I've been on Forums I have elected to use the "Rider Duke" I use that name even on Non-MC Forums...

In the 80's I had a boss tell me i should drop the "Duke" nickname... My First name is David and I worked in Restaurant Management. That was the time when David Duke who was a Grand Wizard of the KKK was running for president... He thought that it wasn't a good Idea to be called Duke...LOL

Mine (Briorick) was a combination of 2 names. My partner being Brian, and myself, Rick.
Back in the 90's my partner and I raised Min Pins and Dobermans, therefore the name Briorick was created for business purposes.
Still to this day, it just stuck.

Back in the days of Bullitin Board Systems, null modems, and dial up internet connections using Tandy 1000s, my son used the name Laserwolf, and still does. My hair was already turning gray back then, so I ended up with the name Graywolf. It got shortened to GW most of the time. When I signed in to this forum on the original forum software it would not allow two letter user names, so I signed in as Gwolf. Pretty much using the same user name I was using back when I worked on the early Tandy computers from Radio Shack and the Commodore 64s. Computers and programming languages was always just entertainment for me. My real paying job was much different.

Back in my (much) younger days, I used to get together with a bunch of other guys and play D&D. My favorite character I used was a Mage, Krommicus. This was back before computers and the internet. When I got my first computer and needed a "user name" I used and shortened my D&D characters name to Kromm.

Snoking1127, because there's no room on the license plate for the "w". I found good snow for the group to snowmobile. There was an old inactive member here with that name so I added the 1127. The other Snoking made 10 posts back in 2017, he was from NC, and I wonder how he came up with Snoking?

I worked for Radio Shack back in the 80's. Remember those Tandy brands all too well. And, the nightly anticipated Modem Dial Up sound at closing, waiting, hoping, for a connection  . Yep, the good ole days for sure. (y)

My last name starts with "Ps". Like almost every word that starts with "Ps", it is of Greek origin - "Psi" (Ψ) in the Greek alphabet. The "P" is silent - not pronounced. Similar to Psychology, Psychic, etc.

Colleagues, a long time ago, coined my "SilentP" name, also because I am a man of (very) few words. Being an Apple fan boy, I added the "i" in front of that to come up with "iSilentP".

Nice to see some older "tech"/"propeler" heads in the group. I started in IT in the late 70s and made a career out of it, but I'm now happily retired and enjoying my time spent riding. :-)

That famous? Used car salesman on a TV show HEE-HAW... junior samples... his phone number... BR549. It makes me laugh every time I think of it... Self appointed, I like to laugh...
