• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Used spyders with low mileage

I am amazed at the number of use spyders I see for sale with surprisingly low mileage. It seems like I see lots of these beautiful machines for sale with less than 3000 miles on-the-clock. I wonder why so many buyers sell their machines before they're even broken in?

Ideas??

I got a really sweet deal on my 2013 RS, bought late 2015 with 530 miles on it. Bought it from the grown daughters father (DADDY!). She had bought it as her only means of transportation, lives in the hills of WV just south of Martinsburg. Didn't work out for her so her father (DADDY!) bought her a BMW car and then he (DADDY!) paid off her Spyder and sold it really cheap to me. Her father (DADDY!) told me his daughter said she didn't like the way the helmet messed up her hair.

I'm sure this is the same reason all the other low mileage Spyders are up for sale...
:roflblack:

Like a lot of toys and other spur of the moment purchases, they just aren't as cool/practical as you thought. Look at all of the RVs and boats that never get used, but the payments keep rolling around every month.

One of my set in concrete absolutes "Don't borrow money for a toy".:yes: At least if it turns out to be stupid, I'm not reminded every month.

and now it will be...

"Oh Daddy! Won't you buy be a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all have Porsches, I must make amends."

Ha!

Take a look at Harley's! OMG! Nothing to see 5 year old HD with 2500 miles! Not in our garage, but, any newspaper. My new bike is 12 months old; hit 32,000 miles this past week. These are to ride, yes?

Lots of reasons for low mileage spyders

Personally I think the out-of-alignment ex-dealer is a big contributor - they are skittish and can feel totally awful without a laser alignment.

My 2013 RT had 615 miles on it. Seller was a Cadillac salesman in Wisconsin who said he was just too busy to ride, his wife's health took a downturn and she couldn't ride, and winter was coming and he needed the space to park his car!

My 2014 had 654 miles when I got it from a m/c dealer in Seattle whose primary business is buying & selling used bikes. He got it out of Colorado where supposedly the owner decided to go with a Harley trike and traded it in.

I can't say that my 2013 RT had low mileage (24,000), but there are many reasons why some of us chose to sell. In my case I had the RT which contemplated having a passenger, my wife, and cruising on long trips. We did manage to go to Spyderfest and back, Maggie Valley (with Virginia in the trip too) and Key West. However, things change, some personal, which contemplates no longer having one. Perhaps this is true for many who buy and then decide to sell.

Is DADDY! single? ;)

I guess....

It's not for everyone. We live in a hurry up world and too many don't like the gearing up involved. If you could get the reasons and the who's you will find that most are new ryders never owned a motorcycle before types. As you read here the many complaints you can see that they do not understand that you are sitting on top of an internal combustion engine and there are side effect. Then there are those that have to sell for neccesity. It is a big investment and if you are in need it will be the first to go...Guess we need to remember these are, after all, recreational vehicles. There are many reasons but then there are the rest of us that don't see life without one....:roflblack:

I bought my 2012 RTS at the Harley dealership in Morgantown WV last fall. it had 3,020 miles on it I think it was. lady was always a Harley rider, bought the spyder, and then ended up trading it in on a new Harley triglide.

My take and personal experience is BRP did a great job at marketing Spyders to non-motorcyclists and alot of those people found out they really don't like the wind in their face and bugs in their teeth and cold and hot and wet. My buddy bought a 2010 RT with less 3,000 miles on it. The wife didn't like being hot and or cold.

My EX was hot and cold (Mostly Cold) even without a bike. :banghead:
