Used Spyders going cheap?!

There is an 08 PE silver SM5 Spyder with 200 miles on it going for $13,000! It is listed on Craigslist in Redding CA if you are interested.

Why are people selling the Spyders so cheap? I thought these machines would hold their value better......

A lot of things are selling for less than expected these days. Everyone (me included) thought that real estate would hold its value and never go down either. :yikes:

I am selling a almost new 2008 Can am Spyder Premier Edition #2359. Premier Editions are no longer available to order (rare to find). There was only just over 3000 Premier editions made. Now orders on these (not premier)are 6+ months out. This one is ready to go now with only 600 miles on it. Included is an extended warranty (worth $1500), so it has 6 year warranty. If you every have rode one, they are a trip to ride. Very fast and comfortable. Must sell do to financial reasons. Serious inquires only though.

Rule of thumb for initial depreciation is usually 30% off list to arrive at whole sale price. So $15,000 x 70% = $10,500 plus a few bucks for low miles and whatever extras on there. B.E.S.T. ain't no $1,500 ... $900 at best or he got ripped off by the dealer.

It is the law of supply and demand. When the economy turns down or burps.. all of this becomes incredibly discretionary. Couple that mood with the lack of $$ lending and you get a good brew for the price curve to come on down.

Luxuries like bikes, boats, GA airplanes etc. are the first to feel the downward wave. Don t expect too many things to hold their value these days especially in the automotive market. The latest Barrett Jackson and Steele auctions show that it is ugly out there.
Our rides..sadly are no different.
Fasten your seat belt as it will be continuous light chop for a while.
