• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USB socket

RTS 2012

Does anyone know if there is a mini USB socket I can hard wire onto my RTS? I want it to fit into the same area as the light switches etc. I have one empty spot left for a toggle switch but I hope to install the socket there instead. I would use it for the powering of a GPS (not the 660).

I'm not sure if BRP carries this socket or if a aftermarket supplier does. Perhaps no one carries it for a Spyder.

Thanks

Don't see any USB on their site. Only standard outlets. :dontknow:
They actually have micro and mini usb's on their site. But, it appears that all have to be plugged into a powerlet outlet.

I tried to link the usb page; but, it doesn't work. If you type usb in the search function on powerlet's page, it will take you to their usb connections.

Just a word of caution...... Those cheap low price plug-in USB adapters create a lot of RFI (radio frequency interference) and can cause noise on the AM bands and loss of reception on you FM radio and cell phones. I've not only experienced it, I've done lab spectrum analyzer measurements and seen it. I can't believe the FCC hasn't cracked down on them because of part 15 interference violations.

I use a Powerlet outlet and one of their Powerlet-to-USB adapter cables. It pays to waterproof (RTV silicone) the black box on the adapter cable, however. Our Powerlet outlets are installed in the speaker grills on my RT, and on the dash of the GS.

One of the members of Midwest Spyders makes a special USB and a 12v socket that takes the place of the analog gauges. It is really nice. When you remove the analog gauges the LCD automatically show them on the screen.
