• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USB In Glove Box Not Charging - 2020 F3 Limited

I am re-posting this in the hopes someone has come up with a solution....

I've had my 2020 F3 Limited since he was "born". Just about since day one, the USB in the glove box will only charge intermittently. The USB symbol may appear on the dash for the first 5 minutes of ryding, but then "USB MALFUNCTION" appears. This issue seems to happen more if the weather is above 75 degrees. Voltmeter reads over 5v consistently. Yes, I have changed cables many times, tried a data blocker - and I have plugged in different phones. Have turned my phone on and off - AND did the Hokey Pokey for good measure :yes:

The USBs in the top case are charging just fine. And of course....several local dealers and BRP are at a loss for words.

Unfortunately, the USB/AUX cables are not as easy to get to as in the 2020+ RT (simply lifting out the glove box). Has anyone who has ever operated on their dash can tell me how to access these cables to make sure the USB is actually (solidly) hooked up??

Also - I have never utilized my dash for anything. The radio sucks - I dont think the dash is designed to contain the sound properly - and I am still waiting for BRP to make nice with Apple and give us CarPlay :-)

Any words of wisdom, friends?

If your having charging problems, install a separate USB port right to battery. Waiting for Apple and Android car play, may never happen. They have to pay royalties in order to feature this on there units. They just might never do it

Thanks for the suggestion, Woodaddict - I did that in the past on my 2015 F3-S. However, when a piece of equipment that used to be considered an upgrade is now provided as a standard piece of equipment on an upgraded unit you've paid a premium price for...is it too much to expect it to work?

:banghead::banghead:

Try a different cable. Have the phone’s port cleaned. Take it to a dealer and then figure it out.

ACP requires a larger screen and what we have works in snowmobiles and watercraft. It’s why BRP went with this as Bosch is the designer and they also produce MySpin for high end European vehicles.

The USB puts out plenty for a smartphone.

Understood, Flamewinger - I have tried different cables, different phones, cleaned the ports (and did you miss that I also mentioned the "hokey pokey"?) - all to no avail. Yes, I am reading 5.0-5.2, as well - yet I am either getting the "USB MALFUNCTION" error or no USB indicator on the dash - either way...no charging.

As explained, several dealers and BRP have thrown up their hands - and I have an extended warranty. That's why I want to take the dash apart myself to see if there is something that's just not connected. But...that really can't be the issue because then I wouldn't have a reading on my voltmeter.

I'm just throwing spaghetti on the wall here....

Oh!!! And I forgot to mention that every cable I have tried works in either my vehicle and/or in my house. My Spyder just does not seem to approve.

I am so confuuuuuuuused!!!!
