• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

USAF - Happy 67th Birthday!

Hard to believe

52 years ago this month I had finished my basic training and was just beginning my electronics training at Kessler AFB. At that time I was only 3 years older than the Branch I was a part of.

History

In 1949, G.O. #35 est. the AFMS. 3700 officers & 1480 Enlisted personnel transferred from the Army to the Air Force.

I was always given the option to not have to say "so help me God." as part of my enlistment oath, all 8 of them. (First 2 were because of delayed enlistment program, 3rd 1 was at Lackland, 4th one was at 3 years, then every 4 years after) You also had the choice to state either "I do solemnly swear" or "I affirm". Seems to me, if you require someone to swear loyalty to somthing by invoking a religious symbol, then you must not think a whole lot of their character to begin with...

...
But wouldn't a person want to invoke all that they hold most dear; when swearing an allegience of that importance? :dontknow:

Happy birthday Air Force!!
Lackland AFB. 1966 .
Four brothers were USAF , plus six uncles.

AF regs

The right to say the words was not taken away. The new ruling alows one not to have to say them.[

Happy Sixty-seventh Birthday, United States Air Force . . . you hadn't turned twenty, yet, when I joined you . . . and the twenty-five plus years I was part of you make me proud.
