URGENT HELP PLEASE !!! MARK?? ANYONE??

MARK may be able to help with this one as he has recently performed this surgery.

I am installing the cb/entertainment harness/gps etc etc
I have the vehicle in pieces and have the rear cargo module on the floor.

I have fitted the cb unit and connected the entertainment harness to the cb.

I am in the process of trying to access the antenna mount and run cables.

CAN ANYONE GIVE ADVICE AS TO HOW TO ACCESS the left hand side of the cargo module to instal the antenna itself and how to run the antenna cable??

It wouls seem from inspection that I will have to dismantle the cargo unit but there is no mention of this in the instructions

HELP.......PLEASE !!!!!!!!

IT'S OK.....YOU CAN STOP LOOKING.......

I found the instructions for the antenna buried in the electronics section...duh...radio ...electrical...NOT bodywork.

Anyway I finally got the antenna installed and also installed the GPS mount.
I have a couple of led's to instal for the indicators but every time I think I find somewhere to put them it involves dismantling another few panels and it's all getting out of control.

Tomorrow I will attempt to reinstal the cargo module and test everything before reassembling the entire machine.

I don't believe how many different panels have to be removed just to do one simple thing, any simple thing.
It's like a damn jigsaw puzzle...I just hope there are no push pins or screws left when I finish.

I have already dismantled and reassembled the cargo unit TWICE today.

And it's always fun to try and interpret a simple instruction like "run cable to antenna at the back of cargo unit" HUH??
All the little nooks and crannies.

Still...if I am sane when I finish this I guess I'll be happy...cos I'm not sane now !!!!!

I just hope I can remember where everything goes when I walk out to the garage tomorrow.

The CB unit install is a walk in the park .Now running the antenna and or installing the entertainment harness, that's the challenge .Bin there done that and I feel for you bro, but doing the install yourself gives you a real insite to the complexity of the Spyder and a lot of self satisfaction of doing the job yourself not to mention the big bucks you saved by not having the stealership install it .You are going to love the intercom and the stereo sound in your helmet at any speed. Took a few long rides to get the VOX set up where we like it. Not to impressed with the CB but we bought the unit mostly for the intercom .We had the Scala set up and they worked not bad but they crap out in the rain and the battery goes dead after 8-9 hours.

:congrats: On doing the install yourself. Any left over parts ,just put in a bag and just use them as spares .:roflblack:

Sounds like you've got it under control. When I did mine in April of last year, I took lot's of pictures of fasteners in my hand held near the hole they go to. This helped me keep track of what went where. I read through the instructions prior to starting and didn't see anything that caused me to decide against it, but found my impressions from reading were not always correct when I got into it. As I approached each step, I thought "I can do that" & still be able to back out if I feel like I'm over my head. (In 1990, my brother and I took the saddlebag and trunk assembly off my new GL1500 Goldwing to install a ton of lights and trailer hotch, so I already had some experience that I felt I could rely on) I found the reassembly to be much faster than the disassembly.

Well, I'm done. hyea:

I think the hardest part was getting the seat reattached and getting the earths together and thru to the bolt hole. :gaah:
Apart from the fiddly stuff like putting panels back on and then realising the clips weren't locked in properly and having to do it all again.

Of course the only problem now is what to do with the 4 bolts and 1 plastic rivet I have left over. :dontknow: :hun: :wrong:
I'll put them with all the bolts in the cb package that didn't get used.

I'm sure not going to dismantle it all again to try and find out where they go...I'll probably end up with more.
I checked each panel as I was reinstalling and ddn't see any obvious bolt holes.
Just keep em for spares I guess, unless something starts rattling or falls off, then I'll have a clue as to what I missed.

I did the whole job on my own. Next time I'll get an assist.

So far, everything seems to work ok. Will take a few test rides over the next week or so and try things out
