• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Upper Gear Hesitation

Hey Gang,

Got my new RT-S SM5 (officially one week today) of which I have rydden around 500 miles on it. I occasionally notice what appears to be a slight hesitation in the throttle response while crusing in third, fourth and especially fifth gear. Now I was thinking this may just be a part of the engine break-in as I know how new machines can be, as well as, we have been having extreme heat I have been ryding in (105+) the past week (tan looks great!).

Anyone else experience this? I use nothing but 91/93+ Octane Gas...Hmmm!!

:dontknow:
If it's just a slight hesitation, probably heat related. Try taking it out in the morning when it's cooler out to see if it still hesitates.
All my bike's ran better in cool weather.

Make sure all recalls and bulletins that apply have been done (ask your dealer to run your vin number and varify). If they have the next step is to see if any codes come up on the BUDS system. (have your dealer check that for ya). If thats all been done then have one of thier techs test ride so as to compare it to other Spyders. These units do have some issues we have run into so its important to have it checked out.

My RTS also sputters when I'm in 5th gear and taching between 5k and 5.5k. I thought it might have been bad gas..but it did it consistently for my 2,800 mile trip. I would think it's the mapping and I hope BRP gets it fixed. Gets rather discouraging.

:agree: Both dealer and BRP of no help. I'm about ready to give up on this thing.

Same Problem BUT..

I had the clutch recall work done and now it has what I call those pregnant pauses...not always the same gear...sometimes 2..or 3 or 4th...never 5th...so will call dealer when I get back home and start asking ?'s never did it before the "fix".

I rode about 130 miles this morning and when it was cool (73 or so) no hesitation, but once it was getting hotter, running up in the upper 90's to 103 that we got today, it started again. Maybe this is something that these Canadian built units have issues with.

They like being in the frozen wastelands up there...Hmmm?
