• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone installed the updated stronger parking spring on a 2010 RTS?

This is the update for the 2011 and newer rt's. BRP is saying they won't fit on a 2010 RT.

Parking brake not working

Has anyone installed the updated stronger parking spring on a 2010 RTS?

This is the update for the 2011 and newer rt's. BRP is saying they won't fit on a 2010 RT.
I took my 2010 into the dealer after pulling the right side skins and re-installing the parking brake cable that came off of the pulley more than twice. When I asked for the updated spring the dealer advised that I would have to pay for it as the service bulletin was not for the 2010. When I pressed him to look up the part number that they originally installed on the 2011 that was referenced in the service bulletin, we found the part number was the same as the 2010. He asked me if I wanted him to call BRP and advised him to call and inquire about the updated spring.
BRP advised the dealer to replace the part with the new spring with no additional cost.
Needless to say I was happy that I didn't have to fork over $42.00 for the spring.

Not sure why this service bulletin just specified the 2011s, but several owners have had the spring replace under warranty on their 2010s. The dealer needs to contact BRP tech, and they will give the authorization.

I got the spring when Cowtown fixed it on my 10 rt-s no charge warrenty, I had the thing come off the pully 3 times:gaah: and finally got a piece of thicker metal bent it at a 90Deg and drilled a hole Just above the pulley and screwed the metal angle so that it was just a hair above the cable and pully. Now it won't come off and the spring is doing it's job too. BUT the metal thing is there in case of failure again. I even got all the skin back in place with no left over parts!!!:ohyea:

BRP warranty group said that they wont cover on 2010s unless the spring looks defective. looks like a $5 part... dealer said its easy to install.

has anyone replaced their spring? any gotchas?

My dealer has replaced the parking brake spring on my 2010 RT under warranty. I have had no more problems since the change.
