Not an issue there, just wanted to know what our suggestion base for back rests might be

Yes therapy sucks, I had to learn to walk again about 10 years ago and about 5 years ago I had to relearn how to talk. It truely sucks and its hard work! I believe the first time I met Bob, it was another forum and I was declaring the independance that the Spyder gave back to me. That is why I am working so hard to give her rewards because she doesn't see the end result, she just sees the hard work for right now. If the Spyder helped me it could help her too. She loves it and it makes her feel special.
I could do $105 if I skipped lunch next week, but that set is no longer for sale on Amazon. As for donations, my instincts tell me to run away and scream "Heck no, I can do it on my own", but in this case that would not be true (having to say that has brought tears to my eyes). So I am no exactly sure what to say to that.
I respect what your doing for your daughter and would be willing to make a donation towards the purchase of oneI think it's a great reward for a special girl. Having a disabilty myself and knowing the work it takes to do rehab to get better I always enjoy getting out to take a ride as a reward for myself
I'm sure others here would love to support as well !

I wouldn't mind donating as well, but it would be for that !!!!!! No way !!!!!!! If someone wants to start a thread lets make sure the good quaility BRP one gets purchased. Besides....... a $100.00 backrest is only meant for a $100.00 passenger ( old helmet thread ).

:agree: I'm on board if you're willing... I can't think of a better way to help a fellow rider, than to help give their daughter a safer place to sit.
Randy's right; quality parts or nothing! This is for precious cargo!
Sorry I just saw this responce.
I would be honored if you'd let me make a donation towards a backrest for your daughterIf you have a payapl account I can send it directly to that or send a check through the mail as well. It is really heartwarming to hear about your daughter and how brave she is being through all of this. I know personally how hard it is to stay motivated and positive and if riding the Spyder with you is her reward I would love to be able to support that ! Please let me know if you'd honor me and let me donate to the cause and how I can do that for you ...
Here is another link to that type of backrest ( other link was expired) http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Motorcycle-Luggage-Backrest-Davidson/dp/B00513G82U
I'll be happy to start a thread about donations if Bytemi could/would provide me with his paypal account address or address where we can send donations to![]()
I only suggested the other backrest idea because I had seen it posted previously by another member and was good for storage as well but I agree BRP makes a better option !
Thanks! Waiting to see how this progresses... Just let me know where or when! :thumbup:I'll be happy to start a thread about donations if Bytemi could/would provide me with his paypal account address or address where we can send donations to![]()

I'm sorry if I offended you with my offer to help earlier -- I just know from experience how expensive therapy and rehab can get for a family. I love hearing updates about your daughter and how well she is taking to her therapy. I honestly didn't mean any harm or to offend. It's great the the Spyder can help encourage her to keep working hard --it's important to have something like that as a relief for her and it's a wonderful bonding experience for you both as well. I'm sure it's something she'll remember fondly as an adult !
If you have a paypal account I would love to donate towards her reward if you'd accept it but I totally understand if that's not something your willing to accept.

Isn't there a "pay it forward" thread on here? Lisa and I would also want to help out here!!! This is the kind of stuff the human race is supposed to do for each other...
Something else came to thought while reading all this... I have a friend who is into horseback riding big time. She teaches all types of riding, jumping, vaulting, etc... She has done a therapetic riding program before. Parents will think nothing of putting a kid on a 1600lb animal that has a mind of it's own. Regardless of how well trained that horse is, it takes no more than a bee sting for them to go totally nutzoid... I'll bet that most of THOSE parents wouldn't EVER put their kid on a motorcycle...
go figure...
It all comes down again to perception, and acceptable risk.
in peoples minds...perception is reality.

This is all of us helping all of our extended family! :2thumbs:
After reading this I fitted a helmet to my 10 year old daughter, raised the rear floorboards to the top and took her to McDonalds on the Spyder. Got a lot of stares but not sure if it was for the Spyder or wanting to arrest me for child endangerment. Anyway, it was fun and she enjoyed it...Can't wait till school starts and I drop her off on the Spyder....how much will I need to save for bail?
Exactly. It makes perfect sense, but you didn't miss anything; there's just an awful lot of idiots out there who like to do nothing more than rain on somebody else's parade... :gaah:
Man, I a bad bad parent :gaah:, I have taken her horse back riding on many occassions. She wears a helmet and rides in front of me, but yes the danger is the same.
