• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Update on my Daughter

Older men know how to treat a woman right...
For starters; They'll give them a perch on an RT! :roflblack:

"Old age and treachery"; my young friend! :D

Bob, during Americade Holly had her second chance to ride on the back when Rnet and I took off for a power ride. I thought she was going to leave me for that RT guy that was 25 years older than me. I thought women go for younger men, but now I'm not so sure. :roflblack:
:roflblack:

I am very sorry to say that I don't think that I have ever dated someone my own age or younger. I do actually prefer older men, they treat you better. :yikes:

I'm not sure if this is correct, but we've heard that if she can put her feet on the passenger foot pegs, she will be considered "legal.

:agree:

In Jersey, So far the only thing that is recured for a child is Helmet, And the child must be able to reach the foot pegs, There's no law against putting higher foot pegs to fit the child.

Sorry for the Highjack Byte !!!! When Bob and I get going we get going. :yikes:

As for the backrest, I understand your circumstances as you explained. I will keep and eye out for you for pre-owned ones and let you know if I find something. I got my sportrack and backrest for $325.00 on this site. It probably wouldn't matter to you what color it was since you will most likely bedline it anyway. Thank you for not getting upset with me about metioning it.

BTW........... Just because you didn't get mad at me, I did the research and there is no age restriction for a passenger in VA. Click link

There are risks in everything we do. But sometimes you just have to measure the benefits against the risks and make a decision. In your and your daughter's case I think it's clear that the benefits outweigh the risks. I wouldn't be surprised if the therapy of riding the Spyder wasn't almost as helpful for your daughter as the professional therapy. Don't let the attitudes of others discourage you. But I agree with Arntufun, get a backrest as soon as you can afford it.

You're doing right.

IGNORE the pansies, You should have seen the looks on the soccer moms faces when i had my son age 6 [at the time] riding Honda big reds, And i don't want to tell you about the howls when i gave my sons their first 22's :)
You do what you think is right for your CHILD, Let others worry about their own children.!!

I agree ignore the other parents -- you know what you are doing and what's best for your daughter.

I do agree with others about needing a backrest for her though. I would not ride on our Spyder as a passenger without one.

I respect what your doing for your daughter and would be willing to make a donation towards the purchase of one :) I think it's a great reward for a special girl. Having a disabilty myself and knowing the work it takes to do rehab to get better I always enjoy getting out to take a ride as a reward for myself :)I'm sure others here would love to support as well !

Another idea for a removable backrest and storage is here : http://www.spydertalk.com/forums/topic/13269-13500-tour-pack/

Don't ignore them. Greet them with the memorable words of the famous seer, soothsayer

CARNAC the Magnificent: "May an unclean yak befoul your lawn".

My 8 yr old son rides with me all the time.
I did look into the laws regarding motorcycle passengers. Basically, here, there have to be foot pegs for the passenger. As far as I could see, there was nothing saying the passenger has to be able to reach said foot pegs.

What an interesting notation of the law in question :)

That's because we have more ''MONEY'' And;;;

Younger Women are expensive to keep.:roflblack:

I hate be the break your heart, but I am actually very successful at my career, I can provide for myself and my daughter just fine without help. :yikes:

I am starting to see a trend with my post and not accepting help.......... I may have to look into this at some later date, I might have an issue. :opps:

Yes therapy sucks, I had to learn to walk again about 10 years ago and about 5 years ago I had to relearn how to talk. It truely sucks and its hard work! I believe the first time I met Bob, it was another forum and I was declaring the independance that the Spyder gave back to me. That is why I am working so hard to give her rewards because she doesn't see the end result, she just sees the hard work for right now. If the Spyder helped me it could help her too. She loves it and it makes her feel special.

I could do $105 if I skipped lunch next week, but that set is no longer for sale on Amazon. :( As for donations, my instincts tell me to run away and scream "Heck no, I can do it on my own", but in this case that would not be true (having to say that has brought tears to my eyes). So I am no exactly sure what to say to that.

I'm sorry if I offended you with my offer to help earlier -- I just know from experience how expensive therapy and rehab can get for a family. I love hearing updates about your daughter and how well she is taking to her therapy. I honestly didn't mean any harm or to offend. It's great the the Spyder can help encourage her to keep working hard --it's important to have something like that as a relief for her and it's a wonderful bonding experience for you both as well. I'm sure it's something she'll remember fondly as an adult !

If you have a paypal account I would love to donate towards her reward if you'd accept it but I totally understand if that's not something your willing to accept.

I have seen this a lot and I guess I really haven't addressed it, but my 8 year daughter is 56" tall, grose I know, her feet easily touch the begs. She is going to be a tall one. Of course she has helmet, pink skulls. We wears one of my jackets, which the arms are a little long but it fits her well. We are same size in gloves, I have really small hands, so she wears my extra. She is covered from head to toe! Just not back. :banghead:

You did not offend me. I honesty think that I have spend so long proving that I can do it all on my own, that I honestly don't know how to ask for or accept help. The tears comment came because I had to admit that this time, it is not something that I can do on my own. Its a hard pill to swallow. :barf:
