There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Update on clutch problem

Clutch plate blew up a little over a month ago:gaah:.
See this thread for a full story on it.

Westcoast Powersports in Clearwater off of US19 was not the dealer I bought the :spyder:from but was the one Doru recomended.
I left it with them and they said it would take 3 to 4 weeks to fix.
True to their word I picked it up right at 4 weeks later. The problem I was having with the clutch seems to be gone and the bike is running great now :2thumbs:
Thanks again Doru:clap::bowdown::firstplace:
Also, the service department was great, kept me informed, and didn't make me feel like I was an inconvience when I called to check on my :spyder:.

It also appears my gas milage may be better now! (will know more after a couple of fillups)

Now a question.
I already had the 600mile service done prior to the clutch going out. Now westcoast says it needs to be done again. Will BRP cover the cost under warrenty since I wouldn't need to do it again had the part not failed?

Glad to see you back on your Spyder ryding :2thumbs:
I would do a 600 miles service considering that your entire engine was tear apart, replace the clutch and clean all the metal debris from the old clutch. :doorag:

If they tore the motor down I'm sure that everything was cleaned before they put it back together. I would say that doing it again would be add protection on Westcoast part and would not be on BRP but who knows. :dontknow:

It's not a bad idea but it's not a necessary step that I know of.

Wouldn't they have changed the oil, and filter, as well the oil tank screen as part of the repair?

I had an O2 sensor changed by West Coast Powersports in the middle of a trip last year... Top notch dealer.

Glad they took good care of you---- but 4 weeks would not sit well with me-- unless it was during the winter.

4 weeks??? My clutch went bad at 7200 miles on my 2010 SE5. I took it to my dealer on a Monday at 8 am and picked it up on Tuesday at about 2pm. Pro shops in Las Vegas NV. Did a great job and have never had to leave either of our :spyder2::spyder2:,s for more than 2 days. Just sayin.....

The engine was tearing apart, clean all the metal debris, replacing the clutch and gaskets...did your engine look like this?

Yes that's the kind of debris that went through the engine. One of the reasons it took so long was waiting on parts from BRP.

I saw it when it was torn down. Wow is all I can say. I don't think you will have an issue getting Brp to cover the 600 mile service. Just remind them it would not need to be re-done if the clutch held up. Ben is real good at talking to them too.

Not impressed with BRP

Ok, it came time for the 2nd 600 mile service. I contacted BRP on July 7th via email and received the automated email reply. :clap:On July 12th I contacted them by phone on the number given in the automated email and was told that they would pass the information on the next level of customer service, and that they would contact me.:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn: On July 26th I called them again to get an update and asked to speak to Carlo. I was very politely told that they would get to me when they get to me (something about a service priority?):gaah: I called Westcoast Power the same day and asked them if they could try from their end. They agreed and called BRP and was told someone would call them back. It's August 2nd and still nothing from BRP.:cus::cus::cus: I must say, so far I am very disappointed in BRP customer service. And where is the mythical Carlo everyone talks about? Am I not contacting BRP correctly or do they just figure my problem is not their problem? This is the Number I was given to contact BRP 1-888-864-2002. By the way the automated email I received from BRP came from Carlo.:(:helpsmilie::helpsmilie::helpsmilie::helpsmilie:

Carlo came through

Ok, here is the latest.
I received a phone call from Carlo. He was very apologetic for the amount of time it has taken to receive a response. We discussed the situation and have come to a mutually agreeable conclusion.

I must say Carlo was very interested in my problem with the spyder and with the BRP customer service. I feel much better now about my Sypder purchase and feel confident that if I have problem in the future, it will be handled properly. Can’t say that about my auto dealerships.
Thanks Lamonster for the info and the Spyderlovers web site.
