• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi Everyone,
This is an update on our UP ride. I am getting so excited as it gets closer. These plans are all tentative and subject to change as conditions warrant. Also, some folks may find some things they want to do in addition to these choices, that is great. I want this trip to be enjoyable for everyone. Everyone is invited to do any part or all of this itinerary.

Day 1 Aug. 1st, 2008
Leave from where ever your starting point is.
We will be at Nord Ride at 11:00a.m Here is the location. NORD-RIDE MOTORSPORTS ONLY 65 MILES NORTH OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN!
EASY OFF/EASY ON; RIGHT NEXT TO THE FREEWAY AT MT. MORRIS EXIT #126. This is just north of Flint.

I would like to leave Nord Ride no later than 11:30 and head north on I-75 to Exit 149 a which is M-46 or Holland Rd. There on the east side of the highway is an empty Tractor Supply parking lot across from the Delphi plant. We will pick up a couple more riders at that point. We should be there no later than noon.

I would like to leave here by 12:30 pm or sooner if everyone is together. From here I would like to head north on I-75 until we come to the I-75 US-23 split. I believe this is near Standish. I would like to drive up US-23 all the way into Mackinaw City. Anyone that wants to get to the Motel more quickly, you are more than welcome to continue straight up I-75, you will definitely save time that way. I just want to take a more relaxing and scenic route. No one is required to go this route, I am just letting everyone know how Brian and I plan to go in the event you want to join us. We should be in Mackinaw City by around 5:00pm or so I would think. There is a park at the east side of the Bridge. It would make a nice photo shot if we could all meet there and get all the spyders, bikes and riders together for a group shot with the bridge in the background. If we are not able to do this, no big deal, the bridge will be there all weekend and we will have plenty of opportunity.

We will head across the bridge to our Motel, The Cedars and get all checked in and find a place for dinner. The evening is free to do as we please. I know Kathy and Tim have installed a Bon Fire Pit and I am planning on relaxing near the fire for the evening. Many of you may want to go visit the Casino which is not too far away and the Lake and boardwalk is just minutes away.

All meals will be your responsibility. The BBQ on Sunday is being hosted by YooperRider (Don), the costs is not determined yet but shouldn't be more than about $5 or $6 per person.

Aug. 2nd, 2008
Saturday morning, I plan on driving along the Lake Huron Coast line until we get to De Village Tour, from there I would like to head north to Sault Ste Marie and visit the Soo Locks. If we are hungry we can eat in the Sault or we can wait and eat in Paradise. When we leave Sault Ste Marie, I plan on driving along the Lake Superior Shoreline up to Paradise and maybe WhiteFish Point, time permitting. If we eat in Paradise, we can then travel on to Taquahnemon Falls State Park. The Falls are beautiful. Visit as long as we would like and then head back to the Cedars Motel for dinner. We can either have a cookout, Kathy and Tim have offered to let us use their grill or find a place for dinner or a little of both depending on how everyone feels. Oh yeah, and if it's not too late, maybe another bon fire or time on the beach or casino.

Aug. 3rd, 2008
Sunday, I would like to leave early and head along the northern Lake Michigan Shoreline and then head north and make a stop at Pictured Rocks. It is a 2 hour ride from Pictured Rocks to Negaunee and we need to be in Negaunee by 2:00pm for the BBQ. It is about 3 hours from our motel to Pictured Rocks. If you are not up to this much of a ride in one day, you can go straight to the BBQ, that is about a 3 and a half our ride from St. Ignace. I will have directions for everyone. After the BBQ, if you came from the western UP, you may want to stay the night in that area and head for home on Monday from there. The rest of us will head back to the Cedars Motel in St. Ignace. We plan on heading for home from St. Ignace on Monday morning.

If anyone has any suggestions or questions please feel free to contact me by email or phone. My cell is 810-625-8081. I am really looking forward to this gathering. It has really picked up steam and I think we have a great group of riders. If you know of anyone else that is interested, forward them this info.

One last thing. If you are planning on meeting us on Friday at Nord-Ride, or at M-46 & I-75, please let me know, so that we don't leave without you.

See you all soon,
Deb Tangen

I want to eat at that Antlers restaurant my dad talked about in Sault St. Marie

You probably won't be disappointed with Antlers restaurant. I've been there a few times myself, and the food was good and the whole restaurant was a hoot!

Mind you, I haven't lived in the Sault for 15 years now, so ya never know what's happened in that timeframe.

Now I don't know whats going to happen. As the Bank where my wife works is going to close on 7/25/08. And she is starting at a new Bank on 7/28/08. We were planning on going, but now we don't know what the time frame will be. We may only have Sat.& Sun. So we would have to leave here sat. morning & leave to go home sun. morning. Don't give us much time. So at this point I don't know if we will make it.:sour:

I hope you can still make it but I completely understand if you are not able. How long of a ride is it for you to St. Ignace? Maybe you could at lease meet us for the BBQ on Sunday, that would cut off a few hours of the trip. I know in these economic times, just making sure you have a job is very important. I hope we get to see you one way or another.

I think it is about 420 miles one way. So kinda a all day ride both ways. looks like there would be no time to relax and shoot the breeze. Probably we won't make it. But all of you guys ride safe and have a good time. it really sounded like fun. Maybe another time.
