• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Up date on SE-5 problems.

Just got a call from the service department. The gear position sensor that was backordered and due in LAST week is again on back order. The message is that it is an identical quantity to the original shipment so speculation is that that shipment may have been faulty.

My SE-5 has been down since Oct. 15 and the new shipment of parts is not due to BRP until around the 18th of November. That would be another week or more to get through their system and shipped. This would mean a repair date near the end of this month.

Three weeks of riding and at least five to six weeks in the shop. Another unit has already had one sensor replaced, the new one failed and hers is sitting next to mine. I think it is time to start contacting the Motorcycle press and let them know about the problems so BRP cannot continue selling units that will only sit in a service bay. If any body else is in the same position please have your dealer impress on BRP just unsatisfactory this is to their customers. It was mentioned that BRP has on other products offered additional extended warranties to compensate dissatisfied customers. I already have a five year warranty on the Spyder and the doctors will not give me the same coverage on this body! I would just like to ride now while I can and worry about repairs as I wear the Spyder out!

Post that on spydertalk that web site is run by guys that work for brp when I had issues when I purchaced my se5 I posted about it on spydertalk and low and behold I got my new se5 less than a month later and I'm hella happy. I freakin love this thing

Just a thought.

You may want to check your local state Lemon Laws-in some states Motorcycles are covered and based on a number of weeks without repair being complete, you would be entitled to a full refund.

Don't want my money back, just wanted to ride as much as possible. Too bad "Lemon Laws" aren't really designed to goose Customer Service into action. Years ago when I was in the industry all a customer had to do was hint at a problem and they were all over the shop, even if it was a factory or supply problem outside our control. Spyder team really did not want to talk to me and the regular customer service "can only document the fact I had a problem". I think something did get their attention due to the sudden appearence of the "re-back-ordered" parts but they won't talk much to their second cousins down south.

"Maryland's Lemon Law: The Automobile Warranty Enforcement Law
In Maryland, the Lemon Law protects you from getting "stuck" if the new vehicle you buy turns out to be a problem. When a new car, light duty truck, motorcycle or multi-purpose vehicle has been "repaired" for the same problem four or more times, or the vehicle has been out of service for at least 30 days for repairs, under the warranty, you are entitled to a new vehicle or a refund for the vehicle you have bought. If the problem involves the steering or braking system, only one attempt to repair it is required."

Lemon law is not to goose customer service along it is to protect your rights.
Take the money or another new Spyder if it has been over 30 days and florida is same as maryland.

Until more people speak up for their rights, BRP will not institute proper part stocking in the USA, as all motorcycle and car manufacturers do.

There was a website called "Sea-doo sucks.com" that stirred the pot at BRP (then known as Bombardier) over issues with their PWC. Maybe it's time for some computer wiz to start a like one about the Spyder. Seems like it would get plenty of members in no time....myself included !

Why don't you invent your own 3 wheeler if you think this one is so bad.

I shouldn't have to "invent my own 3 wheeler". I, along with thousands of others, spent good money on what we expected to be a well engineered product. From reading about the problems ....new ones crop up every day...I'm not alone in my opinion that the Spyder is a POS !! Because of the lax attitude displayed by many owners, companies like BRP get away with selling problem prone products. Too many owners are content on bending over and getting it up the u-know what...while continuing to smile and defend the butt fu''ker during the process !!

WOW! Why don't you tell us how you really feel.:yikes:
There are A LOT of us here who are very happy with our SpYders:D. Sorry you've had a few problems with yours. BTW, have you even put 100 miles on it yet?

did u not get the memo that this bike just came out??? u should take that into consideration next time you buy a model that has just come out... nobody likes problems, but you have to expect some with brand new models....maybe you would be better off by buying a bike that has been in production for thirty years.

multiple problems with my se5 too

i have more problem with my dealer than spyder but still my se5 have big gas fume problem along with transmission not disengaging sometimes when i stop, not shifting til its like 1700rpm and stalling, and with what seems like incompetent mechanics and service manager who doesnt care or dont care for me cause of my race is compounding the problem.
i bought the spyder on nov. 10th its been in the shop for most of times and still is.
I know most people are not having problems with their spyders but just because problems are not yours should not write off people that do as an impatient jerks. If you it was you who's spyder is in the shop right after you bought it you would be upset too.

Thankfully, I've been blessed with a relatively problem free Spyder. The one big problem I had, exhaust gasket failure, didn't prevent me from riding it but it was annoying to have to ride it in that condition for over a month until BRP got around to sending the gaskets to my dealer. Overall, I'm really happy with my Spyder. My wife's Spyder has had more issues but they haven't kept her off the road either. Gauge cluster malfunction, possible steering issue and probable exhaust gasket failure. If the snow and icey roads let up for a few days, we need to get hers to the dealer to get those last two issues checked out.
