• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Union Pacific Big Boy locomotive

The Big Boy came through our area yesterday, the largest operating steam locomotive in the world.

To call this thing impressive, would be an understatement.

Not my vid but you get the idea.

Standing near the tracks when that thing went by, it was incredible. The sound and fury and with the smoke and steam belching out, kind of surreal.

Look closer at the locomotive. It's articulated, it has to be in order to navigate curves since it's so damn long.

Cool, that train went thru my county. Ashtabula County, northeast Ohio, going into PA. I don't live there anymore, moved to NC. Saw a video on FB

Didn't see it! When we got there, there was a line about a 1/2 mile long to get in. I couldn't find a place to park, so we turned around and came home.

Oh, that's too bad! Sorry that you didn't get to see the Big Boy train. How far was your drive?

The Big Boy didn't stop in our lil town, just passed through, VERY quickly too I might add.

The larger town to the West of us has a train park, an official train park, so it's a big deal for train aficionados. The Big Boy was parked there for some period of time, and a TON of people were able to view it while parked. There were also a LOT of people lining the tracks here in our town to see this thing. I'm glad that we got to see it on the way there like we did.

It was a big deal, I think the organizers didn't plan ahead very well at all.

It all seemed to have gone smooth as silk in our area. The only issue here was that the train passed through our area about an hour later than scheduled.

They even have a real time locator for this train. It shows a map of where the train is and if it's moving or not.
