Underglow lights - how are they attached to the frame?

We went to Geneva on the lake this past Saturday for the live bands and street truck parade. We saw a spyder, slingshot and a bunch of bikes with underglow lighting parked. Actually there was a ton of Jeep’s, 2021 vet and others that had them too. It looked like the spyder had either the tricled or spyderpops underglow kit. It had the led bump skid too. Looked like spyderpops with front led. I looked on both websites ( tricled and spyderpops) out of curiosity, both come with underglow 2 frame leds, 2 luggage bag led sets and a bump skid led in their kit. (5 total) How does the long frame leds attach so that you don’t crush them with an underbody motorcycle lift/jack for doing maintenance? Anyone have either and can explain how they are attached to the frame?

All’s good woodaddict! I agree fun place. It’s a nice ride along the lake from Erie to Conneaut to Geneva then south to Mesopotamia. Now back to how do those underglow strips not get crushed when jacking up question?

IMHO the strips have adhesive backing - and where you place them is something to consider. My State ...Vermont .. has strict rules for any lighting that's NOT OEM, your State may be the same. Check first then you can investigate what you can do ...... good luck .... Mike :thumbup: ..... PS I would put a cut -off switch on any extra lighting anyway. Dealing with a Ticket su*ks even if you are right and have been given a Ticket that will over-turned......

Wmoater, they are held on by 3M adhesive tape. Check out CustomSpyderWorks.com. They are bright, multi color and easy to install. They can be turned off with the controller if you are in a state that does not allow them. I have them on my S2S and on the wifes 2017 F3L.

Dag I see the adhesive back tape. The question I have is doesn’t a motorcycle jack smash/ crush/break the light when lifted. How or where are they attaching them to so a jack doesn’t smash them? In the picture above I supplied, it looks like they are on the bottom of then frame. My motorcycle jack lifts on the frame so wouldn’t they be crushed?

I installed them with the tape provided and it mostly worked. Ended up using Gorilla glue for the parts that would not stay up

I went with some from Amazon. I have under $50 total in my lighting. They use 3m tape. I can control the bottom and front independently so I can use white in front and red on the bottom when on the road.

yes a lift will smash them. I took a 2x2 and cut a notch about 3/4" deep and 1.5" long in them and place them on the lift. The clot goes around the lights. The only LEDs on my Spyders that will be damaged by a lift are the ones down the center that are attached to the center frame.

The kits from Spyderpops include plastic sections that go along the frame to protect the LED strips and you can still jack up the bike. Generic LED kits are normally disposables and need to be redone if the bike must be serviced. Many do not even have connectors so that body panels can be removed. that is the difference between a proper kit from Spyderpops and some led strips from Amazon.

The ones I got on amazon go under the Spyder and connect in a chain to each other. They are attached to places that will not interfere with a jack and also allow body panels to come off without having to remove the lights as they are connected in a chain and you just remove the cable from the front and back of the LED light and remove what you want to remove. They are also have plastic to protect the LEDs. I started in the front left and attached it under the plastic cover attached over the lower a-arm then moved the wire down the arm to the frame across to the footboards. I mounted a light in the recessed section under the footboard wired back out to the frame and over to the side bag where I mounted two under that. Then wired under the seat to the other side and back along the same way in reverse. Took me about an hour. I did not use the strips under the Spyder I used the ones in the link below. You can see from the photo in my first post they really light up under the Spyder. I like all the colors as well. I used strip lights just for the front.
