Under $10,000 Spyder

Yugo, I haven't heard that name in years. Back in the early 80's I was building spec homes for myself. We purchased 25 Yugo's and put 1 in the garage of the homes as an incentive, free car with every home. Brings back memories!

Why did you hate your customers? :)

Plus, I'd love to see a smaller one for metro areas. The Nikken seems to do well there, why not something smaller from BRP? Plus with a pricepoint that doesn't appeal to the touring or high sport category just might be the ticket.

I love my F3. I wouldn't trade it in now that I have it. However as it is my first bike period, that price was a bit to shoulder. I decided to roll the dice because I wanted to try. Many may not due to the risk. Had there been one more entry level, I think it would be an easier entry for those first riders.
Particularly as the interest rates rise......

Exactly, I too would like to see a "commuter version" of the Spyder that won't break my piggy bank. Something to get me from point A to point B in the city during the weekday and some cruising fun over the weekend. My wife and I are currently sharing a 2017 RT but now starting to think we each should be riding our own Spyder. A $10,000 Spyder is exactly what we're looking for. We'll of course plan to ride two-up on the RT for long trips and share the driving.

Our $10000 Spyder is our GS. With all the complaints about the later models (yeah yeah, squeaky wheel and all, but there seems to be a lot of them) I think we'll keep our simpler Spyder until it falls apart. It's been trouble free in the 7 years we've owned it. Replacement with a newer potentially more complex model isn't in the cards on a retiree income.

First, I'll say there is nothing wrong with the idea of an under $10,000 spyder. I'm just curious about the statement I bolded. Do you feel it will be easier to maneuver for the metro riding, and/or less gas expense?

I just re-read your post. It looks like your saying it is an easier entry for first timers. I'm still curious about the metro comment. Maybe you think it may not have enough power for the highway? Just curious.

A few months ago I visited Paris and found it interesting that mostly people rode scotters, or narrow sports bikes. I think I might have seen one tour bike. Many bikes get preferred areas over area, those areas are too small for current spyders.

So just curious if a new one would be smaller perhaps? Fit better in spaces for those areas.

It's a completely different type of riding over there... We're spread out across a Continent...
They just don't need the big "Horizon Chasers" over there. Touring one Nation might be equivalent to touring just s single one of our States.

I am interested in seeing what a $10k version will look like. But I don't think I will be getting one, unless the wife want's her own spyder. I am very happy with my F3T and will be riding it for years to come. I do like the fact that the msrp will be under $10k. Because that might mean that come Sept. of 2019, they may be out there for around $8k or less. Most of the times, there is at least a 25% savings near the end of the year:yes:.

The problem in Paris is not the size of the vehicle but rather the lack of places to park it. Last time I was in Paris there were very small cars parked everywhere, over curbs, on sidewalks, in between "no parking" iron posts. Any 3-wheeler is going to be wider and more difficult to maneuver than a two-wheeler so I don't think Spyder type vehicles will replace anything being built today.

I'll be ordering two of them as soon as they hit the market. This is not a replacement for your Spyder so why all the negative stuff before you even see it and the market it's going after? It will be the Spark of the Spyder world and the Spark has done pretty well and is a blast to ride. :doorag:
I think you’ve already ridden these Lamont! So is there enough speed for the highway on these things And will they tilt in the corners since that patent has been in place for over nine years at BRP

So Lamont tell us your opinion of this new one you are an ambassador to BRP and I think you had a lot of INPUT on the F3 because it’s right up your alley so tell us more about this new entry level everybody let’s grill LAMONT he’s got all the answers although probably sworn to secrecy until September 9 in Denver Colorado at the unveiling

Well If its like Lamont said I might sell my beautiful 2015 F3 Yellow with 15,000 miles and get the New Version. The 900 ACE in the Spark had Great Gas Mileage and My New Sea-doo GTI-SE with the ACE 900 Also gets Great Mileage? Economy sells - Over 85 MPH is reckless Driving and Jail in Connecticut?:roflblack:

I solidly think on seeing Can Ams patent that it would be outside the realms of possibility to produce that sub $10. They could have had the tilting market to themselves for 10 years and yet they didnt do it which is a shame because although they would now enter a opened market with other brands starting in the leaning area they will now just be coming second with a sub par design at that.

I still say strip it down. Lose the frunk, make it a single seater, minimal rider aids, basic or no nanny. You want touring, comfort, luggage space? There are already models for that.

The ACE900 engine on a lighter chassis would bring back some performance.

My pick is ACE 900 with 90 HP and Maybe CVT to keep costs down- Maybe around 700 Pds to keep the power to weight AND a choice of 3-4 Colors like the Spark would be hugh in my opinion? The Spark got people to Buy the Slightly more expensive models because they are more comfortable and this Spyder could do the same for the other Models? I look forward to 9 SEP 18!nojoke
