• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Unable to Practice

Bought new Spyder on Saturday but the weather is too cold to ride right now. Things will get into the 70s on the weekend so I will be able to practice then. Will be getting some extra lighting for the bottom of bike and on fenders. I am looking at that Knight Rider brake light for the rear as well. I plan on really lighting this toy up so you could see it from space. I want to minimize my chances of getting hit.

I am not the most mechanically inclined so I will probably have someone with experience do it for me. Have not had much to do but read the manual, which I have six times, and go to work. The weather prevents me from doing anything else.

Well, it was a GREAT weekend with the bike and my PACKERS winning the NFL championship. Could not ask for much more.:2thumbs:

Good luck with your new Spyder. I love Texas! I spent last winter and most of the summer in San Antonio and would do most anything to move there. Just dont want to start over in a new job. We plan on riding our Spyder to San Antonio in the future and would love to get with some of you Spyder riders down there when we do. Shoot its only 17 hours away, lol.

:congrats:

Congrats!

Your lucky, I would love to be back in central TX right now! I've been dealing with the stupid snow for three months now here in TN. Thank goodness I am only here because of my job, will be heading back to Austin when my contract is up :)

Post some pictures of your Spyder when you add your mods!

:welcome:

As far as lights go, I highly recommend the ESI mudflap lights and their center taillight (if you have a stock RS tailpiece). They really look like they belong, and they light up the rear elegantly. ESI has lots of other good lighting products, too, but these are our particular favorites.

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new Spyder......think about comming to Spyderfest in April and meeting the "gang".

When my Spyder eventually shows up I plan to add some lighting mods also. The only thing I am concerned with is too make sure the its legal. I heard of some vehicles with "excess" lighting get ticketed. Are there guidelines to follow to make sure what ever is done is legal?

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new Spyder. If can make it to Spyderfest you will be able to have lighting mods installed while you are there. If you want to be seen from space then I might have some competition. :D

Every state is different and you need to check your state laws. In many states, like SC, blue lights are not allowed while moving and red lights cannot be in the front while moving unless you are an emergency vehicle. I know at many of the bike rallies they usually don't enforce those laws. If the vehicle is parked in a show then just about anything goes.

Another good tip is to have them wired so they can be shut off quickly if need be, as that could be the difference between having a nice conversation with an officer and getting a ticket. If they say you can't have those on, and you can shut them off quickly then you will probably be okay.

To be on the safe side, check with your local law enforcement first. You can see my signature picture, and check out my mods thread, and I have ridden past several law enforcement officers and haven't been stopped yet.
