There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Ultra touring windshield-BRP 09 Spyder

Would you know if the BRP ultra tour.windshield is the best for reducing wind and helmut buffeting? I use a 25 in. popular wind.shield which reduces wind and buffeting about 50% less than stock. Not enough in the winter. Appreciate any comments.

I would strongly recommend the Madstad windscreen system. In my opinion we are all different sizes and have different riding positions so for a windscreen to be "all things to all people" it really needs to be completely adjustable in angle and height.

As Mark says on his web site- www.robobrackets.com
" This is a complete drop-in system custom made for the Can-Am Spyder. The base is a black powder-coated aluminum adapter plate that replaces the stock windshield. A set of black RoboBrackets attaches to that metal plate and then a 20" windshield (I will be importing 22" screens as in the image to te left) attaches to the brackets. With the windshield 'detached' from the fairing you now have control over the height, angle and depth of the shield. The results? Smooth airflow placed exactly where you want it. There's no longer a need to hide behind a gigantic fixed touring shield that robs you of mileage and spoils the open air motorcycling experience.

As Tom says on Spyderlovers forum - " I have not tweaked it yet, but there is no buffeting, wind howl/roar from my helmet is gone, air flow is pleasant, and 75 MPH feels and sounds like 35 or 40. I am amazed that such a "small" shield delivers such a good riding environment. I really needed a windshield solution, this is my fourth. I had high expectations for the RoboBrackets, high enough that I knew I could easily be disappointed. That did not happen - they have actually far exceeded what I had hoped for in performance and looks. This is really increasing my Smiles per Miles!"

Since you are talking cold, there is more to a windshield than stopping buffeting. Hand protection is just as important. None of the narrow, tall windshield can offer this, and it does'nt matter the mounting system. I been riding snowmobiles for many years now at temps down to -40 and keeping the wind off your hands is more important than your helmet. Yes the BRP Ultra touring will do what you need it to do. Get the 25" and you'll be all set, and I do own the 23" one. Classic case of "wider is better".

I have a 09 that i just bought back in Oct. I have the Ultra tour windshield on it. I still feel alot of buffeting on it. I can't say that i feel alot on my helmet but i can feel it hit me on the shoulders alot. I have not had anything else on there to compare it to though. I would try the windshield the other person was talking about the Madstad. If 75mph feels like 35 or 40 i would try that one. Good luck

The real question... does the combination 25" BRP Ultra Touring windshield and the Madstad Robobrackets, make it the best adjustable windshield set up on the market for the Spyder? :dontknow:
Will it allow installation of the new mirror extentions from ESI (NMN) without any modifactions to the BRP windshield?

Stay tune for the answer after these following messages...

My guess is that the forward position of the shield due to the Robobrackets will allow the use of the ESI extensions. If the BRP shield fastens to the mirrors in some way, securing it there would no longer be possible. I had no trouble whatsoever installing the ESI extensions with the CHAD windshield...which also provides pretty good hand protection.

Do you think the Robo Bracket would work Good with my CalSci Large (23 and 1/2") Shield? On Cold weather days I,d like to extend it up about 2" Like the XL CalSci but on warm days a lot lower??:dontknow:

The BRP windshield goes right over to the mirror and arms (it forms the shape of), but do not fasten there, that why the hand protection is so good and also why the mirror extentions don't work without mods. It fastens by the same 4 screws the stock one does. Look at my sig photo, you will see form the mirrors.

Do you mean fastens to the Robobrackets in some way, not to the mirrors. Im still alittle confused :dontknow:

I thought maybe the BRP windshield's hand extensions fastened to the mirror stalks for stability, like some F1 windshields. Apparently they do not. No problems then, with the raised mirror stalks after adding ESI extensions. Windshields fasten to the Robobrackets in a different location than the stock windshield fastens to the Spyder. The Madstad windshield has the holes in the right places, but for all others, a second set of holes need to be drilled to fasten to the Robobrackets. Both the Robobrackets and the CHAD move the windshield forward. The CHAD doesn't interfere, so I don't think the BRP with Robobrackets will, either. As soon as you try it, let us know for sure. :D

It's very possible that the BRP Ultra Touring windshield could hit on ESI's up and out extensions when mounted on a Robobracket. The Robobrackets can adjust the windshield angle from more layed down than stock to more straight up than stock along with adjusting the entire windshield up or down. The CHAD adjusts up and down and can adjust to more straight up from the stock angle. I'm not sure if someone would adjust the Robobracket mounted windshield in this way but it is possible to lower and tilt back a Robobracket windshield so it's approaching parallel with the ground.

Check out my initial post on the Madstad Robobrackets and watch the YouTube video to see what I'm talking about. (Hopefuly the YouTube link still works, I may have to fix it.)
