• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ultimate seats

As information to potential buyers. I ordered the seat and like it very much, however, I also ordered a raincover for both the seat and the back rest. Therein lies the problem. You cant install the seat rain cover without taking the back rest off. I called and ask them about it saying they sold me a raincover for the back rest knowing the two cant be used together as the seat rain cover has no place made in it for the backrest. therefore both are useless to me. I ask that they take them back and they refused. (gone $95.00) The seat is a good product but they sure dont mind saying no even when they should have known about the problem before selling me the raincovers. :spyder2:

I dont' understand why they wouldn't take them back unless they were custom made. Don't think I would be a future customer if this is the way they do business.

:hun: If im reading correctly, they sold you a rain cover for the seat and a cover for the backrest and there is no "hole" in the seat rain cover for the backrest to go through? Don't know what's up with that. :dontknow:

I have an Ultimate rain cover i use on my BRP Comfort Seat. It has a slot for a driver's backrest. I don't have a driver's backrest so I glued it shut. It sure keeps the seat dry.

Yeah, color me confused too. :dontknow:

I just got my Ultimate Seat last Friday, with two backrests. My seat rain cover has one slot for the driver's backrest (which you do have to lift out of the seat before you put the seat cover is on, then insert back into the slot after the seat cover is on), and the end of the cover has a velcro tie that wraps around the back of the passenger backrest.

Sounds to me like you might have gotten a screwed-up cover? Why don't you take a photo of the cover and email it to them, that might help your case.

BTW, as an aside... I **HATE** the rain cover. For the price I was expecting something nicer than that Frogg-Togg material, and more importantly, it doesn't want to fit on the seat-- it's snug where it should be loose, and loose where it should be snug. The rest of the seat is great quality; I'm thinking I may end up finding a local seamstress to custom make me something easier to use.

you have probably already tried this but....

Just thought I would throw this out there and it's something you probably have already tried.....by chance are you putting the cover on backwards? Just seemed kind of funny when you said it was tight where it should be loose and loose where it should be tight. Again, probably something you have already tried.

Hey man, I'm dumb, not stupid. :joke:

The cover is "cut" to fit the right way, but there's not a lot of extra material along the "stretchy" edges to get a good fit. Mine likes to pop off the sides, for one. A bungie clip around the bottom of the seat should fix that, but now that's making it *even more* complex of a deal.

Makes me wonder whether I should just mink oil and beeswax the seat to death and run the risk.

waterproof

I sprayed the heck ooutta mine with a silicone spray that says it only needs one coat. I do it every 6 months anyway,, good seat just a really bad design in the raincover,, and their not CHEAP.

I did have an Ultimate Seat and agree it was a quality seat. The rain cover did have the holes for the backrest, which I did not get. The cover seemed to fit OK although not custom like I thought it should.

With that said I found the seat pushed me to close to the bars (and yes I had the larger of the two) and the seat height seemed to low for me. My first ride was 170 miles back home from the dealer in Ormond Beach. My butt was very comfortable but my lower back was killing me. I kept feeling like I wanted to push back further.

End of story is they took the seat back and refunded my money even after 2 weeks. They also credited me $100 to keep my old seat, since I still had another I didn't need it.

Seat: very good quality and looks great on the bike
Customer service: A+ for me
Fit: not for me

New seat

My new custom seat by a local guy. The material is a carbon fiber looking marine vinyl; very soft and grippy. I like it.

RE: Ultimate Seats

Nightcruiser,
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with our Spyder rain cover, I am personally looking into this issue right now. Please call our customer service at 877-672-0288 and ask for Libby. She has already been briefed on the issue and is ready to correct the problem with the rain cover fitment. Also, as a side note, when you call in with your contact information, we will check your invoice as the retail price for a full three piece set of rain covers is $65.00 not $95.00. So we would like to get that straightened out for you as well.

Cheers,
