Hi all!! I just got back from my 1st Sypder event. Spyder Rendevous in Johnson Creek, WI. It was GREAT!! Saw lots of cool accessories and graphics. One thing I found was I'm not the only one who's "rear" gets sore after only about an hour and a half on my stock seat!!! I sat on an Ultimate Seat and couldn't believe the difference!!! I also saw some Corbin seats there. I heard a couple horror stories on those though. Even felt one myself!! WOW!! It was very hard, and she had put 5000 miles on it!! I guess I'm looking for some input from experience on others who have gotten sore on the stock seats and switched and how much difference it made? I'd love to get one, but they are very pricey!! Thanks!!!

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
Ultimate Seats...yes/no?? Other options??

The Ultimate seats can really help to get your "other end" happy at the end of a long day... :thumbup:

I have 12K miles on my 14 RT Ltd and had the Ultimate seat installed before I put mile one on it. I always put Ultimate seats on my bikes right away. I have tried others but like Ultimate the best. I normally talk to Des in Daytona area where they have a warehouse of sorts and a showroom.
I have bought about 8 seats from them so far and have loved them all, that's why I go back and never even look at other seats.

Everyone has different requirements.
I've had an Ultimate on my Harley.
On that particular bike, I used an Ultimate for several years before settling for a Mustang.
On my Spyder, I use a Corbin because I need firmness in my lower back and a back support the hits a particular spot.
There is no right or wrong seat, only what's comfortable for the particular rider.
But remember this, a few minutes on a seat is not the same as spending hours on that same seat

Ultimate seats have always had good reviews. I have never owned one of those.
I have owned two Corbins. Have over 50,000 miles on them. Compared to other aftermarket seats, they are very firm--sort of like sitting on a board. They do not "soften" up with use. I look at them as giving support. The OEM :ani29: seats are way to mushy for me. Therefore, the Corbin support worked well for me.
My other experience is with the BRP Comfort seat. I have now had three of them. One on each of our current :spyder2:'s. They offer more support than the OEM mush seat. I can go about a hundred miles before I have to get off and take a stretch. The OEM gave me about fifty miles. Cost for current BRP Comfort is $649. That is a bit less than Corbin or Ultimate.
Seats can be an expensive "mistake" if you buy the wrong one.

Ultimate has a showroom in Daytona. I may be wrong but I think Des is the owner. Regardless, the showroom staff has always been great.
Seats are very much about experience and opinions.
Another true test of your buns in long distance bicycle riding. I refer to my wife as the Princess and the Pea. She is more than spoiled rotten in regards to bicycle seats.
Ironically those bicycle seat traits carried over to the Spyder seat, not so much the skinny aspect but rather the more firm than soft.
I visited the Ultimate showroom a couple of times. I also had the opportunity to visit the booth at Daytona. I guess all the years of pedaling and having a KTM dirtbike with a firm seat just has us prefer something to sit on, not sit into. The Ultimate was comfy but just not for us. I am not heavy but simply could not come to terms with the sinking into the foam feeling.
The owner and staff were awesome, the seat looked super high quality. Another guy here local has one and loves his.
Truly a tough and expensive choice to make.

I'm 6'4' tall and ride an ST limited. stock seat & comfort seat didn't work. Ended up getting a russell day long seat . Cost about he same as the others but mine custom made for my height. Thet also had a comfort guarantee for longer period of time then the other companies, with full refund if not satisfied. I did have to send it back for a 2nd adjustment , now its perfect. Was up at Johnson City last wek also. From there rode around Wi, Mn, Ia and back to IL. Seat was great. But I 've heard good things about all of them. Alot depends on your size & what style of spyder you ride. Good Luck. D. Sed.

I have the Ultimate on my ST Limited. I find it to be far more comfortable than the stock seat. I do not think my OEM seat was that bad but the Ultimate at least for us is a lot better.
My wife usually rides on the back with me and she also loves it. Last Saturday we just did a full fuel run without stopping, about 170 miles no problem on the Ultimate seat.

Another option, and far less expensive, is an Airhawk cushion. My wife and I both have the medium cruiser size (left over from our two wheeled days) and they are very, very comfortable. Others may also recommend the newer Airhawk R.
