UPdate 1-15-10 NOT repeat NOT A SUBSTITUTE gasket
THE BELOW LISTED GASKET IS NOT A VIABLE SUBSTITUTE FOR THE LOWER EXHAUST COLLECTOR GASKET... sTILL HUNTING THOUGHT. /KEN
Trying to find a lower exhaust collector gasket is like trying to find hen's teeth.
Now I have not tested to see if this one will slide on the the male or in the female side of the collector but I will... as soon as I can get the garage warmed up enough for me to work.
FelPro part # is (not a substitute) about $ 7 dollars depending on which autoparts you go to. Pictures attached.
got the part number from the manufacter FelPro technical department. This is the nearest thing they have to the ID 2.625 OD 2.875 like the one we need. Their measurement are 2.258 ID is quite a difference and 2.872 OD. The problem the ID is a bit smaller and it has an outside taper where the factory gasket is flat. To bad the ID is smaller because this is a nice thick gasket.
If it will go in and on the pipes you might use two with the tapers facing each other if you need one in an emergency situation.
I talked with a manufacturer and to get an exact high quality unit made I would have to pay for one thousand units which is basically cost prohibitive.
This is a first time "toss in the towel" for me. Over my years securing hard to find military air craft parts I always found the part. This one is a tough one because there are so few units on the road.
In a few days I'll post if this one will slide on and in and how it fits with a face to face taper.
Maybe someone will stumble on one in the future. /Ken
