• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

U-Ship Advice

Guys, I've received a good quote to transport my F3L to Florida. I've not used them before (and I have NOT YET accepted the bid)
What suggestions for things to watch for might you have?
Any special preparations, etc?
Thanks!

I had a motorcycle shipped some years ago when I purchased out of state. Was not U-Ship, but I made sure it was an enclosed trailer and 100% covered by insurance. Since it was a cycle transport company they strapped it to a dolly and loaded in 53 ft trailer - pretty neat system.

I've already had a guy 'accept' my bid which was above the average price suggested.
The first communication is him asking if I would pay more.
Hmm, I'm not liking that. Why'd he accept it if he wants/needs more? I'm thinking 'red-flag' on this deal.

DOT registered...Good suggestion! Thanks.

U-ship is a bidding process

U-Ship is a bidding process - don't take the first offer.

I listed my Spyder for 7 days - the price went down everyday.

Enclosed trailer from Tampa to Indy $350

Not Impressed with U-Ship

I attempted to get a quote for U-Ship for a $2000 Can-Am Trailer to ship from San Antonio to Charlotte. They wanted like over $1500!! No thank you...i’ll wait and buy a new one next year for that price.

I used uship twice to ship spyder. Let the bidding continue. It will go down. Well, to a certain point.
Luck plays a big roll in this. If there is a truck going thru your path and he has little bit of space left, he can put in a very low bid, even for little gas money.

It seems that if you get that really low bid, you may not be their first priority but they still deliver and are insured.
Both times I shipped with uship, rate was “what?” low.

OK, thanks, I'll wait.
The notice said I had until tomorrow to accept. Perhaps I can go ahead and decline it now.

Yes, I would rather ride it down.
I've done it three times on a Goldwing. It was one long, enjoyable day at 803 miles.
But...I'm older now and I need to drive back with wife and the trailer would be here. Dang!

Now if your shipping point is not in a major market or busy shipping lane, it’s different and you may not get a whole lot of bids.

I’d have to agree with the advice given—regarding waiting for a lower bid and (if you can) going with an enclosed trailer.
Personally, my experience with U-ship was ideal when I used them to ship my Spyder. I was there for pick up as well as drop off in both states and made sure to maintain constant contact with the person handling the shipping. For extra security, I took a video walkaround of the Spyder once it was secured in the vehicle and verified that it would not be removed from the vehicle during the trip. The entire transaction was completed with no problems whatsoever.

Best of luck to you.

I just sold a Spyder and the buyer had trouble with U-ship and Haul bike... expensive.. kept putting him off... low bids turned into high ones, etc.
He finally found a company that was GREAT to deal with. They showed up with a large trailer full of bikes.
He videoed the Spyder up and down and noted any scratches or damage prior to loading it. That shows me they're professional and making sure to document everything.
Only took 3 days for him to get the Spyder after they picked it up.
I'd highly recommend them!

Have you considered

renting a one-way UHAUL trailer. You could ride it down and come back with your wife in the car pulling the Spyder.
