two saved from the new trade center

today two window washers were pulled in from the 68 floor on the new trade center. a cable snapped on their scaffold and left them strapped in and hanging sideways on the building. rescuers broke through two window panes on the 68 th. floor and tied them off and brought them in the hole they made in the glass.

what surprises me is that the old building had a rail system incorporated into the building and a automated washers system on the building. why now does it have people hanging from a scaffold.

Glad to hear that the workers were rescued. Interesting that the new version of the building does not have the tracks like the old.

I have to give the workers credit for being able to work in a job that high off the ground and just hanging by a cable. I would not be able to do it 10 ft off the ground. :yikes:

one of the last jobs i did at the trade center, 3 months b4 the buildings came down was a rewiring of some of the safeties on the old washer system. i was worried about the radiation coming off the antenna that was right above us. so i became friendly with the guy, i don't remember his name now, that ran the system. he assured me that there was nothing to worry about because he had been there for 25 years and never had a cancer problem. one of the jokes i would make with him was that he never had to cook or heat his lunch because of the antenna and he would laugh. the poor guy died the buildings went down.
