• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Two questions

First question - I bought the Harbor Freight jack that many folks have discussed and put it together today. I tried to get it under my 2011 RT but the only way it would fit was with one jack pad on solid metal and the other jack pad on the catalytic converter. Just a little concerned about the converter. Any suggestions about jack placement would be appreciated.
Second question - I took off the left side panels and found little seed pods - pic attached. No evidence of a mouse so I am thinking they are from a tree. Any other guesses.
Thanks.

Jack,
I did a search for the air box and can't really find how to get to the airbox. I plan on removing the right side panels tomorrow night. Do I have to remove the frunk? Thanks.

I have a 2011 RT and the jack slid right under mine. Maybe the jack is up just a little bit. Stand on the jack and then hit the lower peddle and see if it goes any lower or maybe you need some air in the rear shock. That's all I can think of.

Tires

Try checking your tires, If mine are low the jack won't clear where it needs to. If it still doesn't clear, add extra air to get that little extra height. You can let the extra air out after you take the jack out.

Thanks Rudy. I was thinking about that because it is just that little bit!!

I think lionsden has the right answer. Put air in the rear shock. Put the rear jack just a shade past middle on the driver foot peg. Hope this helps.

The seeds are from a critter. Toss a few packets of rat bait around in the corners of your garage.

Ok, I was trying to be positive. But I agree they are from a critter. I will handle them and then clean up the spyder - damn critters :(

Agree with the above suggestion on getting the jack to slide under your Spyder.

The "grain deposit" is definitely critter related. I used to battle mice and chipmunks (little ground squirrels) from time to time. Over time I would find dog food, field corn, etc., in all kinds of places, like in the air filter can on my John Deere, in drawers, etc.. Tightening up the building will help, but probably won't keep all of the rodents out. I've seen them slip into the garage when the door was open.

Found a product that repels them. It's called "Fresh Cab." Since I started using it a couple of years ago, I haven't had any critters.

Inside the Spyder

Here are some pics of parts of my Spyder I never want to see again. This all started with trying to add a Powerlet out up front. I am kind of glad now I found this. In picture two notice the glove box hanging down to the side. Can't wait to finish!!!

Scotty, That is probably the most least technical solution I've heard from you. nojoke
But always admire every answer.

Update

I have cleaned the bike and inspected the wires and air box. No chewed wires and the air box was clean and dry. Not too bad to get the air box top off. So the glove box and the center tupperware are back in place. Ran the wire for the plug up front. Did not connect to battery yet. Want to install the battery tender pig tail. Need to change the ends of the pig tail. It has circles not open ended terminals. So I need to buy some open ended terminals so I don't have to disconnect the battery terminals just loosen them. Hoping to be done by Sunday night. Weather is supposed to be great next week.

Pigtail

Just buy a 6 inch adapter. I have a real old jacket needing the old two prong thing and a new jacket needing the single. Plus two new type power units and one real old. Mix and match and I haven't had to get my wife a new jacket yet, I give her the old one every time. She'll figure that out sooner or later! Only been about 12 years! :yikes:

Mice and Jacks

Yup, you have a mouse or mice. Easy to fix as others have mentioned.
Re. the jack - I have a beefy J and S jack that fits fine under my 2012 LTD. do NOT use the Cat as a lifting point. Just ahead of the cat there is an L shaped part of the frame that hangs just a bit lower than the cat. If you use that as the rear lifting point when jacking from the right side of the Spyder you can easily jack it up to full height of your jack. Do use jack stands for safety though.

The saga ends

Well,
I finally got the Spyder back together. Then I had to take it apart. The tabs on the big bottom panel were not in. So all of the side panels on both sides had to come off again. This time was quicker and not as frustrating. I installed the right side blocker plate as well and removed the bottom panel under the radiator. Then we went for a ride. All was great. Now installing a bracket for my Sirius antenna. Running some wires for the FM out from the Sirius and into our headset. Going to be a great music filled ride at Spyderfest!!! See ya'll there!!!!
