There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Two Problems

Commander

New member
I got my new 2015 RTL on November 13th (Friday the 13th) last year and my wife and I love our :ani29:. I have two problems.

1. when making a regular turn everything is ok, but when I make a sharp turn it seems rough. Is that normal.

2. We only have about 1450 miles on it due to the crazy weather but lately it seems to be running a little rough. I have gone through about 3 tanks of gas all 93 premium, plus I have added some star tron to the tank when filling her up but still running a little rough. Any suggestions.

I purchased a New 15RT Limited in November, I have over 4000 miles on it, I have not noticed it being rough during the turns, Im not sure what the issue is there. If the bike is running rough I would take it in and have them look at it.

Ride safe!

In the sharper turns; could you be bumping up against Nanny? :dontknow:
I believe that StarTron is only a fuel stabilizer. Try running some SeaFoam through a couple of tanks, and see if that helps.
Good Luck!

When you say it seems rough, do you mean you feel a shaking in the handle bars or does the engine run rough in a sharp turn?

First, welcome to the crazy world of Spyders:welcome:. From where I come from, I think to have 1500 miles on the odometer is remarkable given you bought it just before winter arrived, and then came the spring rains. I bought my first Spyder in mid April 2015. Only put 2400 miles on it before I put it away Dec. 1st.
Now to your issues of rough riding. With your turning issue, the fist question I have is: what is your rear shock set at??? This is a feature that you can adjust on your dash with the Hard/Soft switch based on the "load" on the trike. The second question is:are your tires inflated properly, and have you had a laser alignment? Your other issue could be the result of numerous factors. You are using gasoline with the correct octane. I've run premium gas with an octane range of 91-93. Because of the issues with ETOH, I occasionally put a fuel additive that my selling dealer gave me. The other issues that I know of need to be addressed by a dealer since your still covered by the factory warranty:
1. Is the belt aligned properly and set to the correct tension?
2. Could there be a problem with a spark plug, or spark plug wire?
3. Air box/filter issue
4. Fuel line/ fuel filter issue.
4. Computer iissue
Items 2-4 would probably show up in the diagnostics that can be interigated with Buds
Hope this helps and you get your RT Limited running to your liking.

Well....

I would start with adjusting your tire pressure up front. If you haven't had a laser alignment get one. On hard turns you have to apply even constant pressure or the dps starts making adjustments or the nanny starts applying braking adjustments. On the rough engine, being that new I would try running the sea foam as Bob mentioned and blow her out a bit..(not too crazy but some high rpm's)...:dontknow:

Thank you everyone for your advice. I will try the seafoam and since I am going to take it to the dealer next week to put on my new bumper skid with lights from SpyderPOPS (I don't have a lift to do it myself) I will see about the laser alignment.

Thank again,

Frank

:agree: .......Plus I would check the FRONT tire Air Pressure .......I don't know about Seafoam................BUT the Startron is a fuel stabilizer AND IT counteracts the ETHYL in the Gas.........Mike

As someone stated above, That is most likely the computer systems (Nanny) overriding you to provide its ever watchful eye on the Spyder. It is adjusting things it thinks is required to maintain stability (brakes, engine etc).

I've noticed a "notchy" feel to the steering in very low speed turns (as in maneuvering around parking lots). It feels as if the steering mechanism is moving through a series of light detents as I turn. I don't feel it at higher speeds.

I haven't yet felt the nanny kick in, though Lord knows I've invited ample opportunity.

That could be low tire pressure. Do you check your pressure regularly?

Power steering?

The power steering backs off as you gain speed ... Maybe you are feeling it going slower?
