• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Two issues with my new RT-S

2014 RT-S - SE6.

First issue: When I start the engine, engine sounds like a very low battery for a second or two then it sounds normal and starts. Does this most every time.

Second issue: Maybe it has happened a dozen or so times: start bike - place in either reverse or first - engine quits. Without doing anything else - just hit starter and it starts right up, but it is in gear!

Have 503 total miles - had it one week.

Thanks for any input.

Don

I had a "test" 14 Limited last year and it would do the same thing. If I was trying to put in 1st it would restart in 1st gear. If I was going into reverse when it stalled it would restart in reverse. I thought a computer update took care of it but I'm not positive.

 Batteries... :banghead:
Dealerships often release the bikes without first making sure that the battery is fully-charge. Try hooking it up to a Battery Tender for an overnight charge.
Stalling. This seems to be a relatively common trait for the first thousand miles or so. Every once in a while, they'll just stall when your putting them into gear.
(I wonder if it's just the clutch plates sticking together a bit?)
Anyway; it does seem to go away after a little while. ;)

Me and a buddy, we both add the stalling issue also.

Has not happened again since the first oil change when a software update was done.

Talk to your dealer, he should have done any update before delivery, but maybe not.

Thanks...

....for fast response to my questions. I'll print off this list of information and when next to my dealer, will let him look it over.

Isn't this a great Forum?

Regarding your battery, check the terminal bolts to make certain they are tight. I've had no problem but did it anyway as a result of what I've read on this forum and found they were just a tad loose, not more than 1/4 turn.

No stalling problem on mine. I believe if you apply the brake it will always start in neutral, regardless of what gear it's in when killed.

Last year I bought a 2014RTS-SE6 Cognac I have not had any problems starting mine, I have 2,988 miles on mine. Good luck! Deanna

Guess I have been lucky with mine. Only bout 1500 miles to date and no trouble so far. Had the plastic off twice and still back together. Put on rons bar and a 12 volt plug

I have 7,000 miles on my 2014 RT-S and have had the same 2 issues with it. On Starting initially it lugs way down before starting, after its been run it isn't anywhere as bad, same if it has been on the battery tender.

If I let it idle for a few minutes the stalling usually doesn't happen, if it is started then shifted into first or reverse right away it stalls, shifting into reverse more so than first. Usually letting it have a chance to get the oil moving curbs some of the issue, Dealer said nothing found with the BUDS at first service and all was up to date, nothing has changed since the service so will see when my next service comes up if anything has changed.
