turn signals working 1/2 the time

I have a 2008 GS SE5 semi automatic. the turn signals all of the sudden only work 1/2 time. Fuse is ok; replaced it anyway. Bulbs ok and 4 way flashers all work well. Relay 2 for the lites I replaced; no change. still lose of signaLs 1/2 the time. tried opening the LH switch box...saw 4 bolts...the 2 piece switch box opens up the part with the reverse button, but the part with the bright lite and turnsignals seems to be hung up on something. Service manual does not show how to take it apart.

Curious..!!

When you say they only work half the time...does it mean you can switch them on and they work sometimes and sometimes they don't or you switch them on and they stop suddenly..?? Are we talking , perhaps, of the self canceling feature..?? Some units needed a bit of filing to keep the switch from hanging up. unfortunately the flasher unit is in the instrument cluster and if it is the cause you need to replace the whole thing. If the four way works all the time I would suspect the turn signal switch. :dontknow:

:shocked: Can you get a can of compressed air, and try giving the switch a blast, while you're pushing in on it?
It almost sounds as if you've got a crud in there, and it's preventing the electrical stuff from making contact.
