• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trunk won't open, any ideas?

Hi all. After finishing the install of the sport sway-bar and putting back the trunk on the bike, I closed the lid but now it won't open when I turn the key. I talked to the dealer and I need an appointment but they are booked up for some time. Does anyone have a tip on how to open the trunk's lid, please?
Thanks so much.
BTW the sway-bar works like a charm. Best $152 I've spent on my Spyder, and installation is easy enough (or isn't ???) LOL

Remove the left front two panels and locate the cable that is running to the lock and pull on it while lifting the lid, if you don't have the trunk spring installed.

I had that happen on my 08 GS, I just stuck my hand under the handle bar, found the wire from the key switch and gave it a yank, popped right up. After that i attached a cable from the latch to the outside, so i can open the trunk with out the need for the key.

Thank you guys for your posts. I removed the right-side front panel and I was able to get a glimpse of the latch assembly. I then inserted a long strong dowel and pushed the lever where the cable attaches. The latch instantly released and my problem was solved :). Turns out, after inspection, that the cable had slipped off its seat in the lever; most probably my fault when I put the trunk back together on the Spyder.
This is the second time this happens to me. The first time, I inadvertently dropped the key in the trunk before I closed the lid. Had to tow the bike to a dealer to get it open. I looked at some solutions in the Forum and I decided to come up with my own. I drilled a 5mm hole on the panel that covers the breaker box, right on top of the latch assembly where I can reach the release lever, by inserting a screw driver. I found a plastic cap to cover the hole and it looks a very professional job :))
I hope this helps someone.
Cheers.

hrbeta,

Without going to the garage and looking at my GS, you can get to the drilled hole with the trunk lid closed?

I've crimped the 'fork' (for lack of a better word) where the cable hooks to prevent it from slipping out; it slipped out once when I installing a hydraulic opener.
