• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Troubled Spyder. HELP! Please

I am the very proud owner of a 2014 black current RTL. That's the good news. Now the not so good news. I actually woke up in the middle of the night thinking about my service situation. I bought my baby from a dealer in Hayward California. I have since researched dealers in my area and found that that dealer in no longer certified by BRP (according to the dealer locator). My question; are there any Spyder lovers in my area and could any of you recommend a good service dealer that you trust in this area. Please put a fellow Spyder Lover's mind at ease. I would appreciate any assistance and help me sleep better:pray:

thanks

I can't help you with a shop :opps:, but I DO sympathize!

Have you visted your local shops, or others that are close by?
Sometimes; your own intuition can tell you more, than any Sheepskin could, that's hanging up on the walls. nojoke
It wouldn't hurt to explain to the service Manager, that you're looking for a shop to service your bike.
Ask what training that his technicians have had.

(This is where playing Poker well, can help...)
Read his motions and facial expressions...
It's not what he's saying; so much as how he says it, that's going to count.

There are plenty in here, who CAN help point you toward specific shops...

I suspect this is going to be an increasing concern for all of us, until the mediocre dealers get winnowed out. New ones ARE coming on line, and only time will tell if they are better.

We needed some assistance when we were traveling through California this summer. I called the three closest dealers to me at the time. The folks at Elk Grove (about 100 miles away from you) were the only one that would even attempt to help me with the issue. The others told me either that they didn't have the parts I would need and were busy anyway or that they could get to me in three weeks time.

I was very impressed with the folks at Elk Grove Powersports. If you do get by there, please mention that their good deed is still remembered.

I drive 100mi. for good service a good excuse for a ride IMHO.

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new 2014. Can't help with dealers in your area, but locals will come on for sure.

Don't know..!!

Check with the "Spyder Ryder of America" club bay area..they will know. We have good ones here in southern California but you would have to pack a lunch...:roflblack:

I know this would be a hike or a RON. At the factory request I had some special equipment installed for testing at Pro Sports Motorsports and Marine in Las Vegas NV. This is a Platinum dealer and boy was I impressed. 800 mile round trip for me. Cleanest most organized dealer I have seen for a long time. No kids with full arm tattoo's, nose rings. lip rings. and I was greeted with Sir not the usual hey Dude like at Ride Now Sports.

Jesse in Parts and John in service. Owner and wife greeted me and made me feel very comfortable.

Remember a lot has to do with your demeanor also. Get to know your Service advisor and ask for the same mechanic "technician" if you like them. You always catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

2014 service

Which service is it? It makes a difference. I checked far and wide and prices, cooperation and knowledge vary greatly. I had to fork out $330 for the 3,000-mile service on my 2014 RTS. It wasn’t the highest, but far from the lowest. It came down to spending $20+ each for several fill-ups plus time on the road and a motel room, so I went with the $330. The best place to begin is with BRP's web site. They have a dealer locater page by zip code. Secondly, know everything you can about your scoot. Call around and check prices and don’t be afraid to ask questions, and ask a bunch. You may want to call a second time and ask the same questions again and see if you get the same answers. Third, your best source of info about your trike is your owner’s manual and this site. You may need to spend 4 or 5 evenings on this site learning what you need to know about your Spyder, if you know what I’m saying. Good luck and stay informed. :2thumbs:
