• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Trouble free spyders

just over 17,000 miles in 13 months, first trip from Michigan to Nova Scotia, several mini trips around Michigan, and the last trip from Michigan to Utah.
I have had to change the oil twice, and the rear tire once. Never had to add oil between changes, never low on coolant, no dreaded DSS failure, no problems of any kind!

This machine is awesome. I would jump on it and head to Alaska without any thoughts of a failure.

I guess if I had to complain about something it would be the trailer hitch. It's a very poor idea to attach it to the rear axle and transmit all of the road shock straight to the trailer tongue. You won't find a car or truck with the hitch attached that way. Other than that it's a good ride but mine is still for sale cause it's real hard on my neck and back.

2014 RS-S

26500 mi no problems still running original front tyres. If you do not ryde ryde your highly polished Spyder it will hate you and give you problems.

Hi Crisis,

Re: 2008 GS, bullet proof! Except for a defective coolant tank...

12,000 miles on my '08 & I'm now in that club. Had to wait about 1 1/2 weeks to get a replacement tank; $100 and all is well with the world again.

Jerry Baumchen

PS) If it moves, it will break.

We have over 25K on ours, had two problems, both fixed under warranty. 1st one was a bad ignition switch the second was a bad instrument cluster. Other than that, been an awesome bike and we ride all year!:yes::yes:

Every forum I have ever been on has issues with whatever the forum is about, ride your bike and don't worry as much. I have learned in my 50 yrs that if I look hard enough for a problem, even if there isn't one, Ill find it, or make it seem like a problem.

18,000 Kms now...

Guys, I have only been a member of Spyderlovers for a short time. All I read everyday is problems with people's Spyder, such as vibration, poor handling, fumes in gas tank, over heating, burning up due to problems, hot foot on right side, computer problems, etc!
Does anyone have a Spyder that has been trouble free for several thousands of miles?
I feel bad after reading all the posting of problems, it makes me want to go buy me a riding motorcycle!
So if your is trouble free, please post and let me know!
Thanks

Only replaced an oil pressure switch so far ( $80) installed

traded my 2011rt with 31,000 and only coolant tank leak. now have 2015 rt no problems.
the vibration is RPM dependent is no a problem

We still have our 2008. Had a few issues, only one of which kept us from riding; and BRP fixed that. Have a minor thing with the cruise. Still a great ride.

2011 RS-S SE5, bought preowned 2 years ago with 17000 miles. 29000 miles now. Replaced the paddle shifter, replaced the brake pads, replaced.......... nothing else except tires. Added a couple of things. Oh, yeah, I replaced the fender bracket on the right side only because some SOB decided to mash into the fender with his pickup truck bumper.

Have not had any problems with my 2014 RT :spyder: now with 17,000 miles, wife has almost 22,000 on her 2010 RT, except for a recall part that should have been replaced in 2011, by the dealer....these :spyder: have been great machines, and a blast to ryde :thumbup:....but gotta slow down a bit on the farkles :ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:

2011 RT bought new and only had a couple of minor problems. I love the thing.

BTW, I'm 65 and been riding since I was 17.

43,000 Miles. Had a few minor issues in the past. This year not a single issue. I have a very good dealer. Have no issue with going cross country on our 2011RTS. Bruce

Spyder a life saver

I've ridden motorcycles since 1968. Usually while running a car as well. Health issues overtook me and I sold the smallest 'bike I'd had for 30 years - a Honda CB 500.
Bought a Porsche Boxster S for my 'grin factor' vehicle, but much as I like the idea of the Boxster, it didn't do IT for me. So I sold it and bought a 2014 ST SAE5.
It has saved my life!!
Love riding it; love tinkering with it; I even love cleaning it.
It's winter down here, I still don't like the cold and the rain. But then, I could be living in Canada . . .
Cheers
Simon

Runs great

I have a 2013 RT-S, the one that was supposed to have all the problems, mine has been trouble free, 24,000 miles and it just gets better.
