A really nice ride is the Garden State Parkway (you can pull a trailer if you have one) down to Cape May. Take the Atlantic City Expressway the the Garden State South (there are tolls, but you can pay cash if you don't have an EZ Pass) to Cape May, then take the Cape May-Lewes Ferry across Delaware Bay. Motorcycles go on first & come off first. Relax & have a beer on the ferry. Then, take Rt. 1 South through Delaware to Ocean City Maryland. Then take Rt 50 West in Ocean City to Rt 113 South. This merges with Rt 13 close to the Virginia border. Rt 13 goes all the way down the peninsula, and will take you to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel which takes you into Virginia Beach. Not a fast ride, but very scenic & beautiful. Keep your eyes open on Rt 1 in Delaware along the beach for the concrete towers on the beach. These were observation towers during WW2, and many remain today. Have fun & be safe!
Thanks for the tip. We were just going to take 90 straight down, but your route sounds more exciting and less stressful.
