• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

TRIP IT

Personally, I have always used Microsoft Streets and Trips. Easy to plan out a road trip and easy to load into my GPS. Been using it since 2010.

Me neither!

I start with a AAA map spread out on the dining room table. The wife spends hours planning our trips (air + 4 wheels) surrounded by AAA maps while sort of watching the TV. We have them planned in minute detail for the next 2 years. Need to get in as much travelling as we can before we are either too infirm or croak.

I use Garmin Base Camp (Preferred) or the trip planner from HOG - Streets & Trips is OK, IF you own something that uses a Microsoft OS - and I have not for years, nor anything using Android.

If you use anything with iOS, you should try Base Camp. While there are lots of map Apps, none let you plan like Base Camp does.

Here's my personal list i keep on phone and add to as I get the ideas. Hope to see a few of yall out there

I heard that there was one person who liked Base Camp.
That must be you !

I investigated Base Camp on the Garmin website & found it was a free download.

Downloaded it & am now learning how to use it. An uphill battle I fear as not too many little grey cells left.

Planning for a great trip is a lot of fun and a great way to pass some of the winter "non-riding" hours.

With the internet you can fine tune, get the route, see what else is in the area, even get costs and make reservations if you need lodging.

Did the same thing for our wilderness canoeing. Poured over the stacks of maps, tried to visualize what we were going to find and just where we would go--given thousands of combinations and permutations.

Good pre-season activity to get the wanderlust flowing.

I downloaded BaseCamp last week, haven't had a chance to get into it yet. Most of my 1 day rydes, I take whatever road looks good, run out till I need gas, then use the Garmin to find my house.
