• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

TRIKE SAFETY COURSE

I had taken the motorcycle safety course the beginning of October. They require you take the course on 2 wheels. Was doing well until Sunday afternoon, 3/4 of the way through, when I stalled the bike, or the bike stalled, and it landed on my ankle. Always wear your safety gear as my ankle was just bruised and swollen. Anyway.........I e-mailed the director of the safety course about the possibility of a trike course. Got an e-mail back from him yesterday that they're hoping to offer a trike course in Spring/Summer of 2012. He also stated they are trying to get trikes for the course, or students can bring their own. You can bet I'll be taking our Spyder!!! The other thing is - my learner's permit is good until July 2012, so I'll be able to take the course and get my endorsement before the permit runs out. God is good!!!!! :ohyea: :ohyea:

You might consider talking to Gold Wing Road Riders Association people. They have a Trike course that is physical operation of a Trike, not the classrom of most M/C courses. It is a excellent course. I have taken it on a Honda VTX 1300Motor trike conversion and the Spyder RT. It is a one day event.

I am still a member of GWRRA, but told you can take course, if you are not. I did not get any ill feelings from the other trike owners, but have heard of there being some from other classes.

I have heard of the GW courses. However, in NC, our safety courses must be given by certified Rider coaches, who are also trained through the community colleges. This course is classroom on Friday nights from 6-9 p.m., then Saturday and Sunday on the range from 8-6 p.m. with evaluation at the end of the course and written test. Then, all you have to do once you pass this course is take it to Highway Patrol and get your endorsement. It also helps lower the insurance cost. Thanks for the info!

GWRRA Trike course...

GWRRA held a training session in Lincoln, Alabama at the Honda plant on the first and second of October. It included the Trike classroom on Saturday afternoon, and the road portion on Sunday morning. Spyders had been approved to take the course, and we had 16 in attendance... twice as many as the convential Trikes.
