TricLED Project Nite Lights Installed

It is very close to Christmas now and I figured our Spyders needed to get in on some of the holiday action. What better way to have a good time than to lite them up some more.

These are the Project Nite lights from www.tricled.com . I like to call them TRON lights, but of course there would be copyright issues if they tried to use that name. :shocked:

In the following pictures you will see the sides lit up by the Project Nite lights, and the new dual color TricFenderz lights as well. I figured we would change these to the duals in order to try avoiding any tickets.

We tied these lights together into one of the zones on our remote controller boxes, and here is a short video clip of the results.

We are very happy with how the installation of all these lights worked out.

Thanks Dean. I also noticed something very interesting in the photos. The lights are the same exact size, but due to the brightness of the white ones over the amber ones the camera made it look like the white lights are a lot bigger than the amber. Strange how the whole camera auto focus stuff works. :dontknow:

Yep, I hear you - basically the brighter lights 'leak' more light in the photo vs the others so the tend to 'bleed' more light in the photo (and surrounding area, physically), which spreads further as time goes on the in the photo (exposure) ( as the shutter is open). Neat hey! :thumbup:

Since you guys are like the Light Masters, any thoughts on how to go about get'n the rear wheel lit up to match the others?

What you need is a graduated ND filter placed over your lens to knock down a little bit of the brightness from her white lights to balance out the exposure.

I am still deciding how I may want to light up my wheels. In the talks I have had with local law enforcement, the wheels are the biggest cause for concern. If they flash, or do anything crazy, while I am ryding then I could be subject to a ticket. Whatever I do will definitely require a remote like most of my other lights have so I can turn them off at will if need be. Also, blue and red are definite ticket getters here.

The only rear wheel lighting set up I know of right now is the one by Raw Design. They have a thread on here where they are offering a big discount right now until Christmas. I have been contemplating getting there setup, but some other things came up that need my attention right now. They say the rear wheel install is a little more involved than the fronts, but you can pick whatever LED color you want to use so it shouldn't be a problem getting a match.

Definitely let me know what route you decide to take, and then post pictures of the finished product.

Thanks for the link to the tutorials on better photography. I am only using a point and shoot, Canon Powershot SX110IS, and don't know if I can get lens filters for it or not. If the auto focus features don't do a good enough job then I am basically out of luck with my photography skills.

Thanks! The installation wasn't bad at all, just a matter of planning where your wire connections are going to be. I would actually recommend a remote for this setup, even if it is only a 1 or 2 zone controller box, as it helps make the wiring easier by using the locking lever things. I used a total of 4 locking levers, 2 on each side of the Spyder which is 1 for positive and 1 for negative. Each strand of lights is locked into the lever, along with the wires from the controller box, so it makes a cleaner install and you have the ability to remove any section as needed without any real difficulty. :thumbup:

Thanks! Now that actually looks like something I could work with. I will have to look further into it now. The camera has a ton of features, the book is pretty thick and I keep telling myself I am going to read it someday but haven't done so yet. Too busy installing lights I guess. :roflblack:

I don't think you have to worry about what Ron and Allen have in store for my Spyder. But who knows when a custom cycle shop wants to light up a Spyder. I sure don't and many ideas have been going back and forth, including my own.

I do know, that I'm getting a remote for a case of Ying Ling or is it Ding ah Ling?:roflblack:
