Tri Axis handlebars

Can someone with the Tri Axis tell me about how far they can be adjusted back toward you, as compared to the stock handlebar location?

I just traded my 2011 RT Limited for a 2015 Limited. The 2011 had the comfort seat. It felt good on the butt but my arms felt stretched. The 2015 just has the stock seat (and I'm feeling the burn!!). I'm trying to decide if I should go for the comfort seat, or try the Tri Axis handlebars.

I've had personal experience with the comfort seat, but I haven't seen any bikes locally with the Tri Axis handlebars, and several dealers I've checked don't have them on any of their bikes. I'd ultimately like to sit on a bike and get a feel for them before I spend that kind of money.

I didn't measure the distance,but it is a lot. I bought the Utopia backrest for my 2014 RT Limited and sitting comfortably against it pulled the bars back until my elbows bent to my liking. I have the stock seat and it feels better now. It's alot of money but worth it. I bought the can-am in April of 2015 now have 26000 miles on it. It also raises up and down. Im 5'9" tall.

I have the Comfort Seat and Tri-Axis bars. If you're going to Spyderfest you're welcome to test sit my Spyder.

I haven't measured it but I would say the bars adjust back up to 6 inches. I say "up to" because you don't have to bring them back all the way if you you don't want to. At 5'2", I also felt the burn in my neck and shoulders after a couple hours of riding with the stock bars.... haven't felt it since changing to the adjustable bars. They performed flawlessly and we're extremely comfortable during my 2,200 mile trip last summer.

IMHO... A must for those of us whom are short statured. And, they well worth the money.

There's "back" and "down". They tilt down toward the rider, but you have to be careful that you leave room for them to travel during a turn. Changing the angle of the bars brings the grips closer to each other, allowing for better elbow position. That's where I got the most benefit from the tri-axis bars.

If your arms are feeling stretched with the stock seat and bars you definitely want to get the Tri Axis bars if you are thinking about getting the Comfort Seat. I knew that if I got the Comfort Seat that I would be stretched so I had the TriAxis bars installed before I took delivery. I love the combination and with the BRP backrest it is even better.

I'll be at Spyderfest too and my Spyder will be parked outside of Vendor Village every day so if you don't find Jay to sit on his you can come find me and sit on mine.

Thanks for the responses. I only learned of Spyderfest happening this weekend. Normally I should be off this weekend..but our department had an officer quit, so we're short. Results, I lost this weekend off. Really sucks. Best weekend of the season so far, plus it was Spyderfest. I definitely want to attend one.

Sounds like I need to talk to my dealer and see if we can deal on a handlebar. I can't afford both the seat and the handlerbars.

Do you get a day off during the week of Spyderfest? Come down for a day it will be worth it.

The only negative I've experienced with the Tri-Axis is, as you move them closer to you they are swinging around which means the angle of the grip is changing with respect to the centerline of the bike. This means as you bring them closer you have to turn your hands outward more. You have to find the best compromise position for closeness vs. the angle of your wrist.

The Tri-Axis bars are not perfect, but they sure are a whole lot better than the stock bar. The only thing that would make them better is to have grips swivel and extend/retract! But like I used to tell my kids, "You can't have everything!"

Shop around there are better deals on the bars out there..

I'm curious as to what the list price for them is in the U.S. Here in Canada the price for them in Chrome is $965.00. I got a hell of a deal and picked them up for 1/2 that price. Being installed next week (I'm not to mechanically inclined, so have to pay to get that done). Really looking forward to trying them out once installed.

I ask because this has been spoken about in previous threads and several had started they didn't choose the chrome because of how much reflective surface it had in the bright sunlight. I was going to go for black for that very reason, however the black would have cost me an additional $250.00. I went for the chrome only because of the price. I do hope that I'm not sorry. Oh and btw, remember that our dollar is equal to about 75 to 78 cents of your dollar, with the result, I'm paying approx $750 to $780 US.

I wonder why the black was more expensive then the chrome. My 2011 had the stock handlebars, but the original owner put the chrome accent bars on it. My 2015 has the black handlebars. The chrome did reflect sunlight at you more at times. I actually like the black better, so that is what I'm looking at if I'm able to get he Tri Axis.

Here is a photo with stock bars laid in front of Tri-axis. You must have got a deal on the chrome as they are $200 more then black in the 2016 catalog.

Yes, I did get a deal. The Canadian 2016 catalogue shows the black priced at 769.99 and the chrome priced at 964.99. My question was "What is the US price"?

Just picked up my 2016 RTS tonight with Tri Axis bar

I just had the dealer adjust it both down and toward me. As a woman my arms are shorter and I used to put 2 inch risers on my two wheels. I think you would be very happy with all the adjustment options and my GPS sits in the middle and still worked great.

Would one of you tri-axis owners also please confirm that in order to switch to the tri-axis on a 2015 RT-Limited, I would also have to purchase the tri-axis gps mount? It seems crazy to me that the stock gps mount would not fit.

They sell the black ones for @ $650, and the chrome ones @ $825. You can get them on eBay for a lot cheaper though. One guy has 3 chrome ones for $500 each.

Yes, it's a bite in the butt, however the standard GPS mount (Zumo 590) is different; different part number. On the upside the Tri-Axis bars, Zumo 590 Tri-Axis bars mount and a Kradellock is an attractive and functional system. JMO.
