Tri Axis Handle Bars

And they are not an easy install... Trust me I have done it myself. YES you can do it but you do need to be somewhat mechanically inclined!

Here are my videos on the job. Trust I saw posts of people saying it took all day and did not believe it. Well, it took almost all day.

I forget what a dealer charges to install these but as I recall it's almost the cost of the tri-axis handle bars!

If your negotiating a price on a new Spyder and want these, I would find a way to work that in the deal!

they are not stock but are well worth the price. They really make for a more comfortable ride.

+100

I held out on these forever due to cost and the job to put them on.....

Did the Comfort seat, backrest, Air Hawk R, NVB pegs... YES all those improved the ride.

But for me at 6'4" I was then getting shoulder issues vs butt issues (butt issues got fixed with the above). The Tri-axis handle bars changed my ride to total comfort now. I highly recommend them if your having arm or shoulder issues while doing long rides.

I had mine thrown in when I bought my 14 so they didn't charge me to install them, and I know that was a great deal.

By the way let me add.....

So I got the comfort seat which moved me back 2". That was great. Then to help with long rides and stiff legs or knees, the NVB pegs helped there. I could move my legs from the pegs to the front of the bike and back, just to change position now and then.

I also added a backrest. That was also nice but I did not really realize how nice until I could fully kick back and use it....

Being moved 2" back with the comfort seat and then wanting to stretch out and lean back into the backrest.... WHAT good is that if you have to lean forward to hold on to the handlebars? It doesn't work. In fact I could not really sit back and enjoy the backrest I added fully because I could now not comfortably reach the handle bars!

The Tri-axis handlebars was the final add on that made my ride allow me to ride it many ways, adjust when I wanted, and be fully comfortable.

A 9 hour ride up to Redding Ca. in October after having all these comfort mods, PROVED they worked. Before that, a 4 hour ride would fatigue something on me in one way or another.

Are you my brother from another mother? :roflblack: That is exactly what I tell everybody, no point in getting the backrest without the TriAxis. I had a Utopia backrest on my old Spyder and even without the Comfort Seat the only time I actually used the backrest was if I had a bag strapped to the seat that pushed the backrest forward. Now with my Comfort Seat and the TriAxis I actually use the backrest all the time, and no more shoulder pain after a long day in the saddle.

Probably not but you never know ;)
Maybe a distant relative!

Experience in the saddle, which I know you have a TON of, is why we both found the same scenario. You cannot really do one thing without effecting the other.

Personally... Now that I know what I know... BRP should have all this stuff on the Limited edition.... But with the F3 out and MY BET is later RT's will have this kind of adjustability like we see with the pegs on the F3. MY BET, is sometime in the near future we will see a new RT based on all this stuff... That is my prediction anyway.

Tri Axis Adjustable Handlebars

While theTri Axis Adjustable Handlebars are proving their worth for the taller riders, they are also -- in my opinion -- proving to be a neccessary comfort for those of us on the other end of the growth chart. I am 5' 2" and have a 2014 RT Limited. I too experienced discomfort in my neck and shoulders while using the stock handlebars due to the width of the grips; especially challenging were the full-lock left/right turns. Always having to lean forward to reach the bars caused some back strain as well because I was not able to use the seat's built in lumbar support or the added driver's backrest. The dealer gave me a pretty nice discount on the adjustable handlebars since I bought them when I bought the RTL. I wasn't able to have the bars installedl right away however because the GPS mounting kit for the adjustable handlebars was on back order. Wile waiting for for the GPS mounting kit to arrive, I viewed a few DIY installations of the adjustable handlebars which resulted in my optting for the dealer to do the install. The 4 hr labor cost was a little expensive but it was well worth the money to ensure this invasive install was done correctly... in my opinnion anyways.

Thanks for the information on these. Will have to try out the RTS to see how it goes before making the purchase. I am 5'8 so it seems I may be in the "sweet spot" for the handlebars according to heights posted.

:agree: Buy them when you buy the Spyder! That's what I did, too!

Same here! No more sore shoulders from having to reach so wide for the grips!

They were great. I am one of those people that thinks there are left and right handed screw drivers. I had mine installed and it took 3+ hours for them to do it. My question though is making the adjustments up/down/ in and out. I haven't had a problem loosening the top 2 screws but the bottom screw is extremely tight. What am I doing wrong?

Your doing nothing wrong...The bottom screw has a self locking nut arrangement...All you do is adjust the bars up or down to fit you...There is nothing to tighten up once you get the bars set where you like them...

The in & out adjusting screws need tightened up once you get the bars set to your liking...

Got a link to the item?

I picked up a set of black Tri-axis bars I saw on E-bay.Brand new with free shipping $480
I just did an 8 hour ride yesterday and the muscles across my shoulders were freaking out knotting up with pain. If you still have the link I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
