• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Travelling through Scandinavia

So this year we ( 3 guys, F3S, KTM & Ducati) made a 3 week trip to the Northern Cape of Norway starting Holland. We only had one worry, which was the weather, chances of rain are pretty high in that area. As it turned out, it was our lucky shot to have this trip beginning of June. We had in 3 weeks only 3 hours of drizzling rain and about 45 minutes of proper rain. For the rest it was beautiful as you can see in the gallery ( http://www.nuy.info/piwigo/index.php?/category/238).
First day a fast trip to Kiel, Germany where we took the night boat to Göteborg, Sweden. A very smooth sail where we could get used to the prices of alcohol (up to 13,5 € for a small bottle of beer). We brought around 12 liters of Wodka along on top of the local beers.
We then drove up north through Sweden, a huge country where we drove quite often without meeting anyone, a desolate area. Food was disappointing there, pizza's, kebab & burgers. We missed out on the bears but found mooses, sheep and reindeers on the roads (this lasted for all weeks!), so important to stay alert since those animals have no clue about traffic rules. So crossing Sweden, Lapland & Finland we ended up in Karasjok after a stint of 580km (in the drizzling rain). From there we moved to Olderfjord as basecamp for the cape. There we asked where we could find an ATM. This was easy, just drive to Hammerfest and back ofcourse which was 180 KM but a beautiful track.
Next day on to the cape which was our target after one week. We met some Russians who had to ride in the snow to get there. It appeared to be the first nice day on the cape this year (like I said, we were lucky). From there we moved via Tromso to the Lofoten. That is a really nice area, spend 4 days there driving over the islands. In total we had 4 so-called restdays which we filled with.... driving to another area. From the southern island we sailed back to the mainland on our way to the south part of Norway. Nice rides with a lot of waterfalls, snowy views and the last bit of rain. We decided on our last but one day to visit the Geiranger fjords and the Troller Stigge. This again was beautiful although many more tourists than up north. From there we thougt we would have a simple drive to Oslo but this route was passin highlands on 1400 meters which looked like a rocky snowdesert. Beautiful surprise, cold and windy but what a ride . From Oslo we took the boat to Fredrikshavn in Danmark from where we drove home in 2 days with one stop in Germany (cheap drinks again!).
After more than 7500km we were home again ( no accidents, just one fign for wrong parking in bloody Tromso). A journey more than worthwhile.
Will we go back? Most likely not since there are so many other nice areas to explore. Having said that, would not mind visiting the southern part of Norway one more time since we have seen by far not all in that area. Up north I am done.
If anyone needs more background, do not hesitate to contact me. Once you check out the gallery (including )video you will understand why it is a great ride!

That sounds like a great adventure ryde. I looked up Tromso on iMaps and it looks like it's at a more northerly latitude than northern Alaska. I've been to Barrow, Alaska, the northern most town in North America. It was July and it was quite cold there.

Thanks for posting this.
