There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Transporting Spyder Question

So I now have 450 miles on my spyder SE5 and guess what???? Shifting problems!!:banghead: The dealer tells me there is no service bulletins on the 2009 SE5 but to bring it in and they will check it out for me. I don't trust riding it over there since they are about 45 miles away and nothing but 2 lane crazy highway to get there. I don't have access to a trailer, he tells me I can put it on the back of my pick up.... I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra and after measuring....the front wheels of the Spyder would be sitting on the tailgate the whole way there. Any advice? Not sure the tailgate will hold the weight.

My dad has a Toyota Tundra. His is pretty high off the ground (stock). I do not envy you trying to load the Spyder on the back of it.

Make your trip safe and secure. Go rent or borrow a ten foot trailer with a drive up tail gate.
Strap it down and GO
Better yet------drop the hint that you need a trailer to load yard waste.
That way you are in line for the husband of the year award.

There's no way I would put it in a pickup. Have the dealer send someone to pick it up if they want to keep you happy or get a tow company with a rolloff to bring it in and send them the bill.nojoke

I put mine in the back of my Chevy Silverado - the Spyder is 591/2" and the back of the truck is a little over 60". It fit fine. If you are interested in the ramps I made(and kept for future use) let me know.

I told them I had no way to get it over there but they didn't seem to care...so far there service has not been what I would have expected from them They forgot to send me my registration stuff for my tag, they always act kind of bothered when I call with questions but I tell you what, they were very attentive and responsive before the sale. I purchased from these guys because they seem very plugged into the BRP community and allover BRP's website involved deeply.

I am concerned about the weight on the tailgate. I can load it fairly easy and they have a loading dock at the dealer so that stuff doesn't concern me too much.

Most dealers will pick bikes up, some charge a fee for this service but it's still worth asking them.

If not check with your insurance, most insurances will cover a tow or will reimburse for it. Geico has reimbursed me when I needed a tow for a motorcycle.

I heard about the Tundra and its weak tailgate issue. Not sure I would trust my Spyder on it. Do you have any kind of road side assistance subscription? Might be able to get AAA to flat bed it over there. Otherwise you need to rent a trailer or borrow one.

I wouldn't chance it in the back of a pickup. I will say that their is a service bulliten for all 2008 SE5's and the first couple runs of the 2009 SE5. My SE5 is in the shop having this performed right now. I would contact another Dealer and give them your VIN or your Spyder Card if you have it and they can tell you if yours is included in the Service Bulliten by looking it up on the buds system.

Yeah, don't do AAA, they won't tow the Spyder without charging you big $$$ for it. They wanted $145 to tow my Spyder 3 freaking miles! They said that they don't cover motorcycles with the CSAA membership. Don't know about other states. ALSO, someone show me a picture of the Spyder in the back of the pickup truck... NO FREAKING WAY I'd trust the tailgate to hold the weight.

My dealer told me that he had a Spyder on the back of his pickup from GA to Minn....

I'd like to see a pic of that too:shocked:

No way I would try it. I paid too much money for my bike to trust the tailgate

Oh, I believe people have done it, but I wouldn't trust all that weight on the tailgate. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Hell, I saw an ATV on the top of a Hummer once.

Might be a good time to look into AAA. The cost of one tow about covers a years membership. I have had my two wheeler towed under that plan. They will send a flatbed. But since Spydergirl was being charged, ask the rep.

I have AAA plus, so that may be the difference.

Also, your insurance may include tows, look into that.

me either!

I had the Spyder in my Truck bed for 600 miles with no problems - and plan on transporting that way in the future. Did not take any pics, but I will next time. If I had a trailor wide enough thats how I would have transported - glad I did'nt -the truck bed was perfect and less of a hassle.

Sounds similar to the first dealer I went to when looking at Spyders. Didn't seem to care much about anything except for if I was gonna get my checkbook out and leave a deposit. :dontknow:

I just rented a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer from a local rental place. Cost was $45 for the day... Tight fit but it worked.. Had to remove one of the assist cables from the flip down door. other than that... went well
