• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Transmission Gear Indicator?

I have a 2012 rt. The GF and I went on a ride earlier today. Everything went ok EXCEPT at one point I was in a series of curves and slight up & down elevations and shifting up & down to keep the RPM's in the good area. When I looked down at the instrument cluster to double check what gear I was in at one point, I swear to God, the gear indicator showed a capital E! I'm serious. I know what 12345 & Neutral and Reverse look like in the gear indicator! And I swear it was an "E"! I made a mental note to watch it a little more carefully and it seems to have corrected itself! I mean I stared at that "E" for quite a while and it didn't come back! I checked my owners manual to check it out and didn't find anything about it. Anybody have this happen or hear anything close to this ? I just checked ALL Fluids & they were all fine! Was I delerious or something? Any advise will be Greatly Appreciated! Thanks!

Most likely your gear position sensor has failed or going to fail

DEAR POSITION SENSOR

Most likely your gear position sensor has failed
:lecturef_smilie: ... Not necessarily, The " E " is related but doesn't mean it has failed...... I had this happen a number a times, once it even went into limp mode.... But it cleared itself .... If you are still under warranty and you have a friendly dealer maybe they will plug you into " BUDS " and see what shows up ..... Mike

There was a time when we were hearing of the "E" popping up under rapid shifting...
How quickly were you grabbing gears? :dontknow:
If the bike didn't go into Limp Mode, and didn't throw any codes: that might just be all that it was.
:D See: you weren't going crazy : it really did happen!! :D

The "E" situation does happen once in awhile. I have had it happen when I tried to boot up to quickly. If you get ahead of the computer, it will happen. Just the computer letting you know who is really in charge--most of the time.

If it happens on a regular basis, you may be having problems with the gear position sensor as mentioned above.

Happens...

If you are shifting to lightly (be positive on the SE and solid on the SM) the computer reads it as a missed shift. Usually that clears and your good to go. If you get it often and you are shifting properly then get it checked out..
